I'm hoping somebody recognizes these figures. I took pictures of the sheets in front of the displays when they were available, but some weren't right or were just not available.

Hoping that posting on here will trigger some results as there was a lot of inspirational work at that show.

    Greetings

The two female figures are Snow White and Honey Valentine from Kabuki models. Franky is from Phylegis Arts. The fourth figure was from the Dutch Allen collection and am not sure if it was a scratch-built or if manufactured. DW - Atlanta club

Franky (2 be or not to be) was mine and just a fun little figure to paint. Phylegis Arts and Ammon Miniatures make some fun little fantasy pieces, Kabuki makes some serious cute female figures. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info! Much appreciated!

Incidentally, is there any possibility of a class/workshop on figure painting? I see these offered all the time in Europe and Asia, but never any here.

I tried looking up Franky from Phylegis Arts and can't seem to find anything on them through the wizardry of Google. Where can I find them?

Keep your eyes open. The Atlanta Show features a workshop almost every year on the Thursday and Friday before the Show. Our Flat Workshop for 2017 is already filled, but we are working on a second workshop . More on it later.

Yes, I would looooove to do this and I know several others that would too. Hopefully I don't have to wait an entire year until the next workshop. :woot:

    Steve,

Apologies for my spelling error! In regards to workshops and seminars, there have been a number over the last few years here in the states. Planet Figure sponsored one several years ago I was fortunate enough to take with Fernando Ruiz. It's kinda be at the right place at the right time. I have also had the opportunity to be in classes with Penny Meyers, Matt Springer, Doug Cohen, Anders Heinz, Mike Hall, and Bob Langenberg. You will find that many shows have a workshop prior to the show. As David O. pointed out, we are likely to have another workshop at our show in Atlanta next year. Penny Meyers is doing one at MFCA this year on flats and Jason Green is doing one in Tulsa this year, but believe it is already filled. Not sure where you live, but look for a club nearby and one of the major shows (MFCA, Chicago, Atlanta, Tulsa, etc.) for seminars and workshops.

Since you like fantasy pieces, I recommend workshops at Wonderfest, (I've attended several airbrush classes) plus look at shows sponsored by Cool Mini, Reaper, and Adepticon. I've learned from every workshop I've attended and made some great friends, so I highly recommend it! If I can help anymore, please write me.

I'm in the north burbs of Atlanta and know that the club meets at the Hobbytown in Kennesaw every third Saturday. Only hitch for me is that I have my 9 year old daughter those days and getting that kid to sit still for that long would be a miracle. Does the AMFS do anything outside of once a month?

Sorry Steve, I just saw this tonight, I was gone all last week to the mountains. The AMFS club meets every 3rd Saturday morning at Hobby Town and the AMPS club (armor and figures) meets every 1st Saturday of the month. Im a member in both. I live in Carrollton. We generally do not meet outside the 10-12 pm time period except for a couple times a year. We do an all day paint workshop at least once a year and we do at least one holiday party. We do have members that get together and paint sometimes. The HobbyTown also has a IPMS club that meets, but am unsure of their time schedule.

I understand about having a daughter, but please know you would be welcome to visit with us.

Are you most interested in fantasy or all genres?
