    Hi

Just completed this after over 3 months on it, not my usual type of thing but it fits my new policy of only painting exceptional busts with real character. Its easily the best quality kit I have ever worked on, the casting and fit is exceptional, a great pity only 50 were made and Gigantic are not around anymore. It would be great to see Chris Clayton back one day. Its kept pretty close to his original, some changes but I figured that having seen a couple of others painted in other ways Chris had got it spot on with his.

All in acrylic, I used Reaper for the flesh for the first time and was impressed. I've had a lot of help on PF with this so thanks to Bigchief for parting with the kit, Valiant for very kindly supplying the letraset for the hush, else I would have been totally stuck, Housecarl and John B for advice on where to get a union jack decal and Daddy O for his lead on masking products. Nameplate from name it and the base is a jewellery display block.

    Thanks for looking

    Cheers

    Neil

Believe it or not masking tape and lots of it, and 3 days at Christmas, sad I know. Tried spraying through mesh and couldn't get the sharpness or the stretch effect.

I'll be stocking up on thin masking tape at Crewe!

Thanks for your very kind comments.

It's the light flesh triad from reaper, freckles are old GW washes watered down and added with a toothpick. I've had the reaper paints for ages but not tried them, I thought acrylics would be better than oils for female flesh and these worked well. I'm going to persevere with them and try the negro triad for my next bust.

    Wow, great paint job!

I saw a copy of this bust during a Google search, but couldn't find anymore information on it, so I thought it was a one-off prototype casting.

You're really lucky to own 1 out of 50. If you don't mind me asking, how much did it cost you and when was in on sale as I never seen this bust for sale (is it USA or UK made?) nor heard of Gigantic or Chris Clayton. Thanks!

    Hi Ong

Chris is/was a UK fantasy modeller only a few years ago and had great success at Euro including the first fantasy BOS with a dragon vignette. He had a company called Gigantic which just disappeared one day. I missed out on the release of these sadly, they sold for about £60 at the time but now fetch much much more. One of the PF members Bigchief kindly released it from his stash to me last year.

Proof that a good finish brings a good sculpt to life!!!
the reds really make things pop, the break up with the lining and webbing gear works wonderfully!!

Shame Chris simply disappeared overnight, the gossip I read about was due to some legal stuff, but that was gossip, based on no known facts I could filter out.

    Cheers

The face is just outstanding - female faces always seem harder to paint than male ones. The rest is also superbly done.

Your painting of this bust stopped me in my tracks.

    Wow! .... and wow! again.

This bust has got to be one of the most futuristic high-tech Sci-Fi figures ever made in resin as most Sci-Fi figures are lagging in high-tech looks. It's a real stunner and you painted it remarkably! I wish more Sci-Fi resin companies would follow this look in producing figures with high-tech originality in the figure's gun, gear, devices, and uniform.
