I’m pleased to announce a new sculptor to the Tommy’s War ‘family’ in the name of Gianpierro Russo.

In fact, I’m so pleased with Gianpierro’s first sculpt that I’ve given him his own classification in the catalogue (prefix G) and we’re working on more new figures for this year right this moment.

TW54G01 depicts a Captain of the Berkshire Regiment (later the Royal Berkshire Regiment), one of the famous English line regiments that formed the backbone of the British army for many years.

The officer is shown wearing ammunition boots (popular with officers and other ranks) and a privately purchased satchel. With pistol in one hand and his cane in his other he is checking the time before ‘going over the top’.

This figure works perfectly with the bases in our diorama range.

Cast in our usual highly detailed grey resin, the figure is 1/32 scale and the box art is painted by another new member to Tommy’s War, Alex Long.

I would like to say a massive thank you to both Gianpierro and Alex for joining me at Tommy’s War, and I’m looking forward to working with both of them in the future.

Looks really great. Will be getting this for sure. He would also look good with a whistle ready to blow.

Darren, superb release! Sculpting quality and style is on the same playing field as Nino's - keeping a nice consistency. Well done on the release! And will obviously be adding this to my inventory when it arrives here in the U.S.

    Regards,

Would it be ok to swap the head for say a hornet one with a helmet? Or did the uniforms change with the introduction of helmets?

    Thanks

I am not sure that the uniform changes were that significant but the Hornet head range are 1/35th, they do a range of 54mm range but only a few. The head will look small but not a great deal.

Tommy's figures are a little larger than true 54mm, so the Hornet 1/35 heads will be too small. Tommy's do sell figures with Brodie helmets, but not seperately yet.

As Darren said, this figure was made to go with his new range of bases. See below 2 of the bases painted to show the Somme region's chalk.

    - Thanks for answering my primary question - seems like a Brodie helmet would not be out of place.
(I am sure I can come up with an appropriate scale head/helmet if needed once I have the figure to compare with the options.)

    - The bases also look great and will enhance display of a finished piece.

    Best regards,
    Anthony
