The thread title is very misleading.......anti gun control?.....I think Jim Cary's little skit is meant to be pro gun control.

This is the shocking consequence of policies which are anti gun control...........

Lol. Nuns with guns! Hilarious. I went to a Catholic school, we had a trap shooting team.

OK, so after watching that video a lot, I decided to disarm myself. It was hard, but I will be all right. This guy down the road named Achmed bought them, he seemed cool. I feel better now. Thank you fellows.

I feel a bit of friction coming from our colonial friends across the pond, which when taken as a laugh, it's o.k. I personnally blame the French for the problems the U.S. is experiencing.as if it wasn't for their help during the AWI,us Brits would have still had the colony.

Just a little note about guns and the Amendment .
As I understand it; it was written when guns were muzzle loaded and a good marksmen might get off 3 or 4 rounds per minute .

Do you think it would still be passed given a hand held assault rifle can fire 3.000 rounds minute and you can buy one over the counter in the US or a twenty MM canon . Things have moved on a bit and we also have police forces today :D

What will happen when small hand held lasers and nukes become available and somebody gets upset and feels his honour has been infringed when he gets overtaken on the highway

Not knocking your gun laws but it is worth a thought

If memory serves, you blokes have been having difficulties with knives in your country recently. How do you intend to eat your bangers in the morning once your parliment bans them?

Any gun, whether musket, machine gun or plasma rifle is inanimate. They are used or misused by a controlling human being. There is a long established prohibition against murder. It seems little impediment to those willing to violate it.

You see I believe I am capable of making decisions for myself. I may choose to be armed and I may choose not, but it is my RIGHT to choose. I am most certainly not inclined to give credence to the opinions of "celebrities" who play make believe for a living.

I suppose it's inevitable that this old potato heads down this well travelled pass again. (MM Alert)
It's difficult for those of us in countries where legitimate access to guns of any description is highly regulated to try to understand the 'over the counter approach' that seems to exist in the US.
What I've noticed is the number of attacks that are perpetrated by individuals who believe they have a legitimate grudge and decide to address it by shooting schoolkids and others. It is this apparent ease of access that is of concern.
Now this is by no means exclusive to the US but there does seem to be a significant rise in this sort of atrocity.
One that does stick in my memory is back in 2012 at Sandy Hook Elementary School when a fairly ordinary young man shot dead 20 children between 6 and 8 years of age along with some adult staff and injured many others.
The stand out aspect of this particular horror is the perpetrator who shared a house with his mother took 4 of her guns to carry out the killings ........... WTF did she need 4 or more guns for?

If I can comment on the salient point of Langenberg's post
I'm pretty sure that the majority of the perpetrators would have used similar arguments. It could be argued that they were / are criminals ....... of course they are ....... but only after taking others RIGHT to LIFE

    Fairly ordinary young man? Really?

If you are comfortable in your beliefs fine. I have no desire to change them. I expect the same courtesy from you. Therein lies the salient point.

Am I reading this right ? a fairly ordinary young man ! shoots dead 20 Infants and several teachers .
Fact is he was a depraved middle aged man who should have never been born , more the pity he turned the gun on himself because he would have been torn to pieces if he had lived .

Where did I say anything about changing your views or anybody elses for that matter???? A bit over-defensive there.
The simple point is that the 'criminal' argument is as often as not, the go to position for the gun lobby. It is the act shooting that often criminalises the individual, by which point it's too late.
Fair point about Adam Lanza, but there are on reflection plenty others, he clearly had diagnosed but untreated psychological problems.
Untreated largely because of his mother refusing to allow treatment ........ and this woman had a gun collection in her house !!!!!!!
It appears to be the relatively easy access to guns that is at the root of the matter and not simply the psychology of the individual.
I know that a number of states have added more rigorous controls to their gun laws but surely there is a logic in applying more restrictive controls nationally, restricting type, and quantity of both firearms and ammunition. Thereafter individual states could then enhance the requirements locally.

????????? Fact is Ron ........ he was 20 or is that middle aged now???????
He did have diagnosed but untreated psychological problems.
If you think I'm trying to justify his actions ......I'm not ........... the point I'm making is that given his problems he had access to his gun enthusiast mothers collection of over a dozen firearms.
It's not the right to bear arms that's the problem it's the access and lax controls in some states.

I was referring tot the Dunblane monster Hamilton
Point about any risk is if you remove the risk then tragedy will not happen , take away the RIGHT to own fire arms and you remove a huge part of the risk .

This is a big risk josh-renville_facebook.jpg a photo he wanted to put in his year book

I see this will turn into the inevitable cat fight.

There are those who accept personal responsibility, and some of the inherent risk associated with freedoms. There are others more comfortable abiding by their sovereign.

    I choose the former.
