Does anyone paint?

OK, sounds a stupid question on this site. However, I ordered some additional water oils from a predominantly art supplies website which also has its own community and workshops etc. after browsing their site I found I had lost two hours to watching art based YouTube videos which I found fascinating.

Personally, I cannot even draw the curtains but it got me thinking about all the figure artists on here hence the question.

Does anyone paint in the more traditional sense?

Yep I've also done that. :D
I've played around with pastels at sea to pass the time doing a few drawings. and often thought I'd have a go at painting but haven't got around to it yet. Sitting down with a blank sheet of paper in front of you is infinitely more difficult than with a figure.

Good grief Pete! You really are talented. With skills like that you can create any figure, kit or anything by just getting a canvas. Really impressed.

It caused me a tendinitis for holding the palette too many hours during large sessions.
So i just paint little things while comfortably seated, but I miss it though..

What a great painting! I almost didn't ask this question as I thought it wouldn't get a response but there is obviously quite a bit of multiple talented people here.

In answer to the question, yes I paint in oils and watercolours, I draw in pencil, and I even compose the occasional (very occasional), poem. I can't play a note on a musical instrument and that niggles me no end :(.
    Oh well!
    Best wishes, Gary.

I really do fancy a go at watercolours. Just watched a video of this amazing woman, using paintbrushes similar to the ones in my shed (although hers were not as hard as bricks) paint a view over a lake in about 20 minutes that looked stunning with a pallet of about five oil colours, amazing.

What I like about watercolour, is the sheer delicacy of them. If you fancy trying them you should, it;s very relaxing and if it's something you don't know about, you won't put yourself under any pressure :).
    Best wishes, Gary.

Had a fun evening watching watercolour tutorial videos. I think I am going to have a go at the simple stuff but what it does bring home to me is how related watercolour painting is to figure painting using glazes.

I paint with all kinds of medium. I studied illustration and graphic design in college. Here is Louis Armstrong in water colour dye 30"x40". I also study Chinese water colour brush painting in my later years.

I used to but haven't for a long time. Most active as a teenager and young art student but ironically moved into other creative areas once I began my degree in Fine Art. Recently got some oil paints to start again and see what happens.

I paint on canvas too. Badly - I find it a very relaxing thing to do.

This portrait of my brother was done when I was still painting first time around, before college. Because it's of family its on the wall at my mums, so could photo today.
