Surely, a simple figure, would be a one piece casting!!! Ray

Anything with few separate parts, crisp detail, hands in pocket, free standing (not holding a weapon with two hands or leaning on or against anything), and in resin (easier to handle, clean, and pinning less important due to low weight).

Some examples for quick assembly and easy paint job that come to mind: Minuteman from Art Girona, Atilla the hun from same company (white metl though)

    Cheers

    Or,

    The invisible man ! :D

I made it once for a fun competition,
Just a base and his shadow :)

That's funny Paul, but highly unrealistic. Why would the invisible man have a shadow?!
I'm also not sure if this is good advice....Ralph's recent thread made the invisible man figure very difficult to assemble.
By the way, what paint did you use for the shadow and how did you know where to paint it?

1 he wears an overcoat and trilby Doh
2 a complimentary colour, I'd recommend Vallejo black grey added to the base tone of the ground work.
Vallejo black if it's black grey tarmac
3 the shadow goes on the floor in whatever direction you want to have the sun
4 ralph should heve run some cyano down some invisible thread from chester market's
dressmaking stall, he knows where it is !

Now I know you better adrian
I shall call you dumbass :D

    Hi mcsnead17,

For a simple figure, why not try your hand on 'cartoon figures' which are simple to cast and quite fun to paint?

    VICTOR ........Noooooooooooooooooo !

The first would be fine, the second would make poor old Mc a re-caster.
He would be shunned by everyone

I would have loved to take this as an insult and degenerate the thread into another mud-slinging contest, but since I will still be needing your expertise on Hussar uniforms for my next figure I reconsidered. I forgive you.

    Hi!
Jokes apart... I have enjoyed certain "easy" and simple figures:
    - Any Verlinden figure. Great, for instance, Mr. Tarleton bust or the 24th infantryman (Zulu War).
    - Beneito or Andrea offer many easy ones, espacially the old ones.
If the question refers to figures for "access" for someone who is starting, it depends a lot on the scale and period of interest.
For a friend who is starting, I am recommending him both Tamiya and Verliden. Both offer large scales at an affordable price, though I also think 54mm is a good scale to get to learn the contrast of shadow and lights.
    Kind regards,

    Iñaki

thank you guys for everybody's help but after 40 years of starting figures but never being able to not one regular scale figure only wargaming figures and not usual type of figures either all though I did begin my career in 1970 with a Ral Partha Half-Orc Giant with this one I truly tried to get to get the paint job right but all I got was a merit award but in Junior Category and not novice also I tried again but since I had my late mother was calling also and my strange working hours back then that is why I am asking about doing and trying to figure out what is a simple figure?

I'll second Verlinden and Tamiya. Good levels of detail, though not as much as kits from other manufacturers, and a lower parts count, so, relatively few steps. Same goes for figures from Tradition.

    Prost!

  19. Ferris A Fixture
