    Hey guys,

I'm a 3D artist working in the game industry for about 10 years now. Been thinking of getting into making busts and resin kits. I can also sculpt traditionally with clay and will show what I have in a different thread.

Here are some stuff I've been trying out. Please not that Pimpkin Head is just a test for myself and will not be mass produced. I'm more than wiling to share info and answer any questions for anyone interested in my process in 3D sculpting, traditional sculpting or even mold and casting process.

I go to a company overseas called Ownage to get my stuff printed since it's much cheaper for top quality (high resolution) prints. Many professionals I know uses the same company. They posts stuff all the time in the Zbrush forum.

    First test for 3D print:

    This is the Zbrush sculpt

This is the 3D print...about 5 inches tall

This guy is my second sculpt and print test:

    Here is the 3D print:

And this guy Pumpkin Head, not yet posed. Will pose him with more dynamics later on before trying to print him.

Not my interest, but they look very good.

Thank you guys for your kind words. I do love the more supernatural types of designs. I'm also a huge dinosaur and prehistoric animals fan and looking into making some for future projects.

While the subjects are not my interest it is cool to see this digital sculptor`s world full of creativity and the crisp results. Who says the hobby is dying?

thanks for your kind words Martin and pokrad. Honestly i believe there is a place for traditional and digital sculptors and there we can work together side by side. i got into digital sculpting and 3d modeling because of my traditional sculpting background. Even though im showing my digital work here so far, im excited to get back to my roots and make some traditional scultures soon.

This is very nice progress in the 3d printing. Is the first bust a hill troll race maybe?Scutes on shoulders (and back maybe) , very thick neck and so tiny nose reminds that. With strong ,mixed expression,it looks annoyed like someone disturbed him from having dinner or something.
i remember Pumpkinhead,i rent it in VHS and watched it many years ago,i know the first version back then must have been designed by the Stan Winston School and crew.I hope many will want to paint it when it is out.

Hi Veleran, Yeah he's a cross between an Orc and Troll really, was just a doodle I did just to test out the print quality difference between 2 different companies...expensive lol.
It's unfortunate but I tried to contact MGM for the rights to use Pumpkin Head's design but after a few applications sent I never heard back from them. I wont be mass producing him, but only make one for my own personal collection.

If you already have the mold for the giant Orc, you can paint one whenever you have time as a sample and keep a few resin copies (not much more) handy just in case for anyone that wants to buy one.
For the pumpkin bust, the same, just say he is a generic earth demon or something and cast copy only if someone buys one.Is there a place where you sell or display your work?

Thanks man...I do have a little shop but not for anything hardcore. My wife and I make a few things that we sell but it's all cute stuff. Here is the link but I'm sure it's not to many people's taste in this forum lol

Your work and the quality of the prints is very impressive.

Thanks guys for you kind words!! I'm looking into expanding variety of style and themes. I'm also working on (traditional clay sculpt) a prehistoric animal piece...I'm a huge fan.

What do you guys feel is a great all around theme? for example: Military, historic figures from different cultures, fantasy, Sci-Fi, etc...

These look awesome. I'm curious as to the amount of clean up if any you performed on the 3D printed piece. Is the picture of your first printed piece directly from the printer? Any noticeable granulation or striation of printed pieces?

Hi Renarts, There were minimal post processing done by the company that did the print. They also primed it for me which is the base color you're seeing. It's a resin based print so the resolution is of highest quality. There is no stair stepping what so ever. Unfortunately having it done in the US would have cost me a little over $1000.00 for just 1 print!! (got a few quotes from different places). I got them done over in Hong Kong at 1/3 of the price here in the US and I'm super happy with the quality.
