I forgot the little history lesson!
The Alpine Chasseurs are part of the infantry, they are "Chasseurs" (hunters) who are light foot soldiers . They had the distinction of being recruited in the French Alps, hence their name. Specialist of the mountain, they fought during the great war in the Vosges, Macedonia, Italian Alps ...
Please do not confuse them with Driant hunters, who fought for wood Caures at the beginning of the Battle of Verdun.
Even weapons, light infantry, hunters, but for those of Driant said "Chasseurs à pied".
For all "Chasseurs" of the French army, uniform is blue, with yellow daffodil facing, their nickname "Vitriers"(glaziers), sometimes "blue devils"
Important their insignia, all kind of "Chasseurs" an hunting horn, means elite troop.
    [IMG][IMG]
Only other weapon allowed to wear this hunting horn, Customs, doubly or even triply Elite in France, because Customs Officers have the right to wear the hunting horn, the grenade and red tape for the legion of honor given to Custom by Napoleon I. but it's an other story !!!!

My mother think I'm a history teacher, does not tell her that I am in law enforcement, it would kill her ....
That said I would receive my heritage and I could buy lots of figurines .....:sneaky:
