    Hi,

There is some good info on this in Osprey books from Calvin Tan (Painting waffen ss figures) and Jaume Ortiz (painting fallschirmjager figures). General overview: heads replaced by Hornet ones, webbing by photo-etch, some clothes made more bulky by adding a thin layer of putty.
In my opinion some Dragon figures really just need a good paintjob to shine. Maybe not as a stand-alone one, but definitely good enough for dioramas.

    Cheers,
    Adrian

Maximus, this is the best tip I can give: See photos of what you're buying first.

Quality inside Dragon boxes is not coherent: Some kits are 20 years old, some are brand new - but their marketing boxes are too identical: Ronald Volstad paintings really sell!

So, see first reviews and good photographs because some miniatures just cry out to be assembled: They are extremely realistically posed and their folds are outstanding too. Others ... specially the very first ones ... gash, you better give them to your kids to play!

Just posted a similar thread earlier about converting/detailing DML German figures. Do a search here for Von Luch (Jim Thiewes), and you'll find about six different threads of his amazing DML conversions.
