Questions about Falcon Miniatures Isandlwana figures

Hi. Years ago I picked up 22 Falcon white metal figures of the battle of Isandlwana. There are 12 British (two mounted) and 10 Zulu. The detail is decent but not to the standards of today. Does anyone know how many in total of these figures were made? How many would constitute a complete set? I ask because I think I'm probably going to sell them.

    Cheers!

    Falcon ? Zulu Wars
    I remember Greco Persian Wars
    Roman and Gauls
    The Holyland 13ct

Dnn't you make confusion with the Sanderson, who was working for Greenwood & Ball ( distributors of Falcon in UK)
The same Sanderson making Zulu Wars figures in 54mm for Hinchliffe in the 70 ies

And if the sculptor was All Charles , then, he make Zulu's War in the US, remember buying some in the US in the shop near Westpoint Academy, under the name Victorian Miniatures

Ah, so it sounds like I was the one who was confused! I don't have the boxes they came in, just a small tag which says "Greenwood & Ball Ltd." and "Falcon Miniatures" It doesn't say who sculpted them. Oh, and they were made in England. Based on the photos these are those figures. Thanks!

Strange because those figures were never produced by G&B. They were produced by Hinchliffe from 1975 until the sale of the business to Skytrex in 1984. Skytrex added further figures to the range, basically conversions of what was already there. I guess that the tag you mention might be bogus. Any chance of photographs?

Confused! OK let's try to explain another way
Zulu War sculpted by Sanderson ( who worked also for Greenwood & Ball ), were a Hinchliffe product with the Hinchliffe logo under the base ( a H )
And reading again your post "... 2 mounted British..." it's definitely not Sanderson, he made only foot soldiers

On the other hand Greenwood & Ball had in his line of production, a subline Falcon, main sculptor was Al Charles, I don't remember the Zulu but I know that Al Charles made Zulu's War and produced later under his own brand in the US with the name Victorian Miniatures . So check the base
Here is a link to pictures of bases http://www.mirofsoft.com/les-autres-and-others/
8th pictures is the logo for Hinchliffe

If not, it must be a Al Charles products sold under the name Falcon in Europe
No idea how many different pieces they were

And some Victorian Miniatures from my drawers

This is a fun detective challenge! I checked under the base and clearly engraved on it is "Falcon" and codes like ZB 2& 4 No H. I've also added a photo showing an information sheet included with each figure and the torn box labels. I really appreciate all the help with this!

Just to clarify, there is no H under the bases.

So it's clearly the first release of the Insandlhawana serie by Al Charles under the name Falcon, before he went to live in the US, so it's late 70ies early 80ies . And, it's the classical label that appeared on the Greenwood & Ball boxes, with subserie titles like Lasset, Sanderson, Garrison, Falcon ...

Mystery solved, thanks! So I guess my only other question is do you have any sense of what they would sell for? I'm a reasonable guy and know I'm not going to paint them so happy to sell to someone interested.

    Cheers!

That's nice to hear, thanks. Well, I try to be a builder and painter of figures and armor, but at the moment I am more collector :) I didn't realize Martin collected. Knowing we share that in common, I hope we can share the same level of success :) My next book is out in October so maybe I'll try to get in touch with him and see if I can borrow a million of his fans!
