Very well done, like the wood grain effect on the rifle.

    Hi Roger,
You are an angel: many thanks.
Isn't there a little likeness with my figure?

In an other side I may see that the other soldiers wears a hackle, so my question is: do I change or not?

    Thanks

    Pascal

Pascal, I seem to remember reading somewhere that either, or maybe both, Territorial Force or New Army battalions of the Black Watch were not initially allowed to wear the red hackle. This did change sometime after 1916 (I think).
Unfortunately I can''t remember where I read it, I will have a look though and hopefully someone else will come to our aid.
And yes, it could be the same person. (y)

Not to be a pain... or overly obsessive... but he could be a Royal Scot... the 9th battalion (The "Dandy" ninth) wore kilts.

Have dropped a note to balhousie castle out of curiosity to get the official answer!

    Either way...a lovely figure.

Not at all and I'm sure Pascal is of the same opinion. This is an interesting discussion. I also thought 9/Royal Scots too, looking forward to hearing what the museum has to say.

The initial response is possible...but unlikely. Officers of the 7th battalion would have worn balmoral bonnets with the hackle depending what "dress" they were wearing... with the glen garry also being worn...

Other ranks would have worn glen garries with the cap badge being worn... the "initial" belief is that the reference to wearing the hackles from 1915 fit with the highland regiments moving to adopt the TOS for OR's... however, they will look into it in more detail... it's going to cost me a bottle of scotch next time i visit!!!

9th Battalion HLI (Glasgow Highlanders) is another very distinct possibility...their cap badge is / was very similar to that of The Black Watch. They also wore the Black Watch tartan...

So Pascal could leave the figure as is and change the title to reflect another old, but distinguished highland regiment... with no controversy!

Strong belief from RHQ is that the picture shows a jock from the 9th Battalion HLI... however they are happy to be proved wrong (which will save me the bottle of Scotch!)

Maybe your bottle of Scotch is safe, the gentleman in the photo is actually identified as,
