Here's where I'm up to with my first attempt at a flat. Its one of Ken Farrer's from Mil mart- and I know he lurks around on this site, so thought I'd embarrass him! Yes, and it is painted in black and white! Told yah I was gonna do that Ken, I also stuck your sculpt on a piece of plasticard and extended your sculpt to the borders with magic sculpt... heh heh

Very effective. I walked out of the room for a second and when I came back in, I thought I was looking at the actual photograph up on the screen. Well done

Thanks v much fellas- this is barely modelling at all, more like canvass painting, and then in black and white, even more like pencil sketching.

Now, I've got it to this point- and it looks pretty sketchy, and I could push it and go for a really smooth finish, adding acrylic glazes to blur the transitions - which is the standard procedure for the 3d fig modeller. But I'm tempted to leave it like this - like it looks like a pencil sketch...

Very nice job on this, I'd be inclined to leave it as is, as you say looks like a pencil sketch. Ken you'll be delighted to hear that Mrs Helm has her eye on this next  Over to you Mr Barton

I will leave it! I'm going to get it into a nice pic frame and maybe hang it up at home! most of the flats I have seen have seen have more polish than this, but it has a certain rustic charm I think!

Feel obliged to bring it Ken! It was a nice little project which I estimate took no more than 8 hours model time! Got a few more of yours which I might have a go at! the idea I have - following on from this and Carl Startins version of your Stalingrad trench flat, is to mount up and paint a background to give it perspective...

If I were you, I'd leave it a while and see how you feel.

It's perfectly fine from here, top job there.
