Ok so got a new airbrush for christmas ,

the nozzle needle size is 0.3mm, my previous airbrush was an aztek so was used to changing nozzles for different mediums and as i mostly use vallejo the red 0.53 nozzle and the black 0.4mm were my go to nozzles with Orange high flow for priming .

Can i get away with using a 0.3mm nozzle with vallejo or am i going to have to thin the paint so much it would just be silly and therefore investment in an larger nozzle would be better any help appreciated?

I have a 0.35 nozzle on my Iwata, it will spray Vallejo Model Colour ok, but will definitely need thinning.

Model Air will be a better bet, if you can find the colour you want from that range (not as extensive), but this will still need a touch of thinner.

The "Air" bit just means smaller ground pigment, it will work straight from the bottle, but needs thinning to get the best from it.

By far the nest thing I've found to thin the paint is their Airbrush Cleaner... Not the Thinner...

I have a Badger with a 0.2mm and spray both Valejo model colour and Jo Sonja without a problem provided you thin the paint to the right consistency.

I use a mixture that I got from the Miniature Mentor Violinist video. It consists of 2 parts windex/glass cleaner, 1 part airbrush thinner, 1 part airbrush cleaner and 8 parts distilled water. I actually use water purchased to top up batteries. This mix seams to work well for me. The ratio depends on the paint and is really done by eye. Obviously Jo Sonja has to be diluted more because the paint is thicker. The final consistency should be like milk.

I'm of the same school!!! Use an Iwata Eclipse with a 0.35mm nozzle. I spray Vallejo Air which I thin using the new Airbrush Thinner by Vallejo to a ratio of 1:5. I also add a drop of Airbrush Cleaner because it helps flow and helps get rid of residue.

I should say that a 0.3mm nozzle should do the job as well.

The only thing i can see as an issue is the primer u use Vallejo black and sometimes grey primer but have never thinned it
