    Hi all.
Long time since I've posted anything. I've Been working on a lot of bits but not finished any, aside from this little beauty from Alpine. Hope you all like it, I certainly enjoyed painting him except when I dropped him and he looked like he had stepped on a mine.

I wanted it to look like early winter when you get the first snow that is still quite wet but cold and miserable. I didn't go mad on the face as I felt he should look cold but not to lived in, a bit like the young SS lad in Band of Brothers that Winters shoots.

Enjoy Lew J. Nice work Lew, on a nice figure.

The snow is very well done. How did you do it?

For a young guy like this, I think the rather plain face is right on the mark. I like the cool colours you've used.

I hope you don't mind me giving some criticism as well, but the camo pattern is a bit out of scale. I know it is hard to paint though. And you certainly nailed the colours.
Another point is that it is SS camo, and the figure is a Wehrmacht guy, as seen by his belt buckle.
But I wouldn't worry too much about it. This is a late war figure and strange uniform mixes were sometimes seen.

Overall, very nice figure and groundwork!

    Cheers,
    Adrian

    Thank you Fabrizio and Ferris.

@ Ferris the snow was made by mixing Vallejo Still Water with plain old baking soda, adding more of the still water to the wetter looking snow and some dark greys and browns to the dirty snow. I think it works well for wet snow as when you apply it to boots etc it leaves a little of the "Water Effect" behind giving the appearance of melted snow.

    Thanks Lew J.

Hello Lew, I like how you painted this figure. I'm also doing this in w/ss colors for the zeltbahn. I agree with Adrian, the camo pattern is a little out of scale, but the colors look great. The wood grain on the shovel handle, and weapon look very realistic. Nice idea painting the pants white, something different. Your snow on the base is excellent, and ties in with the figure very well. Great work Lew. Here is a front/back view of the w/ss pattern I'm using on my figure, it shows the scale to use for the camo pretty well. Regards, SG:)(y)(y) F-251a-a.jpg F-251a-c.jpg

Thank you swralph, bigtodd and Sturm.

@ Sturm could have done with that image when I started this, the pic I was using was a little ropey and sad to say I found artistic license took over.Might have to go back and get a re-paint using your image and agreed on the scale comments.
