Here are a few lesser known portraits of Ney from the auction site I referenced in the first sculpting string.

I would say the face of your sculpt looks most like the face in the last (oval) portrait.
    Well done

Here is a more realistically coloured photo from the iPad....a bit blurry but less incandescent orange effect. I undercoated the legion of honour sash and epaulettes.....didn't like the collar lace so that gets restarted too.

Much more realistic colouring with this pic.
That is a really solid, bright, red base... It's not Vallejo is it?

    Hi Colin,
I am really impressed with the way you have turned this around, your skin tones and the way you lift the details with the inks is just superb mate. Talking of the inks are they all Liquitex??? and could you document the part numbers or codes for the various colours/shades. Thanks:)
    cheers

Progress continues at a leisurely pace :). Colin the base for the Legion of Honouy sash is Liquitex bottled professional acrylic. It shows brush marks and dries a bit shiny....both characteristics are good for his sash.

Richie - I took a photo of the inks I used and attached it below.

Sash is just undercoated and blue is just unshaded base tone. Epaulettes just base coated V leather brown and washed with sepia ink to show sculpted detail.

Zeno - I re-did his lace but it is not done yet. Base is V leather brown; highlighted 50:50 base and V elf skintone; walked with sepia ink diluted 2/3; hi highlights 50:50 L Naples yellow and elf skintone. Still need to highlight certain points with an off white bad then wash with gold liquitex ink.

Maybe he will be done for our small group get together next Sat.
