    Welcome to Oz bro,
As an import to Australia as well i understand....... don't know how far up you are but the Queensland Model Show is on this weekend in Brisbane .As to bases try to find a local woodturner or Mens Shed ( it is a place where woodworkers and the like meet) even a woodturners club. Show them an example they will point you in the right direction and then you may be able to custom order them . Over here you have to think outside the square and be resourceful ..............Good luck
Oh you can import them I know guys that have but the cost (Postage) sometimes is painful when a local could make the something to your specfications.........

    Hi
I currently make quite a few bases for the guys in the club I'm in, in Brisbane. I've attached a couple of photos (hopefully if I've done it right) to show you the sort of thing I do. I've mainly been doing round bases but have started looking at doing some square ones like you use. I normally sell them around $10-12 Austral IMG_0359.jpg IMG_0360.jpg ian each. Postage in Australia is about $9 (includes buying a box), as long as it is under 500 grams which is normally 2 or 3 bases. If you are interested send me a PM with the sizes your looking for. I'm happy to make something in that size and send a photo to you. No commitment to buy. I am about to go away for a few weeks so don't stress if i don't reply immediately. Offer extends to all.
    Cheers

G'day, I can confidently recommend Jim's bases because I picked up a few at the Queensland Models and Hobbies Expo in Brisbane recently.
They're beautifully turned and finished and there's a great choice of timbers....the bust plinth's are excellent imo.
And all that at a great price as well.....Well done Jim, cheers mate.
