    Love it, great setting.
Nice balance on the blue, red and grey.
The EVD Gladiator releases are often overlooked.....strange

Lovely work Brian. The colour s are vibrant and your brush work is clean and smooth.
The sand on the arena floor appears to be shag pile carpet. Why is that?

beautiful painting but this character was NOT a gladiator but an attendant which, in arena, gave the death blow to the losers, which later were dragged away (through the "door Libitinaria") with hooks other attendants dressed as Psychopomp Hermes.

It doesn't look like a carpet in the flesh Tony as i'm almost certain the Romans didn't have shag pile carpets although I might be wrong. You Ozzies are always stirring with that big spoon, somethings never change Tony LOL

I already knew this Robert but I used a bit of artistic license as he wouldn't be dressed as a gladiator either,"the ferryman of the dead"

Marvelous paint job Brian on a much overlooked range of figures. IMHO these EVD gladiators in their "ROMA" range are some of the best detailed examples of gladiator miniatures available.

hi Brian sorry if I have intruded in your post! I am a fan of the Gladiators (I'm writing a book about it), and my speech was just to point the uniformologic NOT TRUE aspect of the piece, nothing else, except the good sculpture and your beautiful painting!
