Hi Planeteers. Some time ago I wasn´t post any bust or figure in forums and I think, today it is a good day to do it again ;-)

I would like to show you one of my last finished works this year. This one is Violette. It´s a 1/10 scale bust of Taurus Miniature´s brand. I have decided to named her as "Violette", though the name that sculpture´s author, Alexander Deryabin, gave to her is " the masquerade ". I have enjoyed very much painting her and probably because of it, it has taken me only a week of painting work. Painted with airbrush, paintbrush and acrylic paints. I hope you like the result ;-)

Of course, comments and critics are welcome!!

    A kiss: Pepa.

Hello Pepa, Beautiful painting. The fleshtones are perfect. The beauty mark on the left cheek is a nice touch. This is an excellent piece. Congrats, and Regards, SG

Ok, feed back asked for, feedback will be given.....

Here is what I like about your work.....
1- colours, very simple scheme of purple and yellow, very well shaded and highlighted....
2- skin tones very pale, suits the look of a European lady of the ear
3- makeup very subtle and convincing...
4- the accents and highlights of the little pearls n the neckline of the dress, the hair and the gloves add a sparkle
5- I like how you have toned down the eyebrows, as though face powder was applied

Now here is what I dont like....

    1-
    2-
    3-
    4-
    5-

    Hope this helps,

    Jamie

First: Thanks a lot for your kind words  @ T-34/85, captnenglish, Sturm Grenadier, Bagelman 1952, napoleonpeart (yes I can share ;-) ), Jamie Stokes, Figure Lover (lips: scarlet red and gloss varnish), Marta (I´ll post some process pics), Mariobusta, alamac, kagemusha, DEL, Capitan Lol, Rich Sculpt (Camera: a fuji finepix 9500-S), Helm, Dan Morton.

And now, I show you some photos of paint process of skin and face....I´ll try to explain a little ;-)
    Colors I used:
    violette papcolorespiel (Copiar).jpg

Base color: beige red 804 VMC+Thinner Vallejo (71161)+water----> Milky consistency and airbrush

    violette pap01 (Copiar).jpg

Hightligth: Base+pale sand 837 VMC+thinner+water---->much more water than paint, I apply the mix like a veil over the base. I paint several thin layers of this mixture, directing the airbrush from the top to down over 45º (more or less). This way, the general volumes of the figure are highlighted

    violette pap02 (Copiar).jpg

I used Cam. black brown to shadows. Ref 042 Vallejo Model Air (VMA). I applied several layers very very thin. About 98% water and thinner and 2% paint. In this occasion we direct the airbrush from below to up (45º too). And then I use the airbrush to "draw" subtle shades like veils.

    violette pap03 (Copiar).jpg

For the last highlights I used ligth flesh 70928 VMC+thinner+water---->very diluted and layers like veils drawing the volumes. White NAC 01 for the final points of light----> very diluted and only in some very concrete points.

    violette pap04 (Copiar).jpg

Make up: Scarlet red VMA 003 very diluted with water and thinner. I apply this mixture on cheekbones and as a eyeshadows, and a little between the breast.... of course with airbrush too....

    violette pap05 (Copiar).jpg

From this moment I will use paintbrush to paint eyes, eyelashes, eyebrows, lips.....and the "mouche" or the fly: "The beauty mark on the left cheek"as Sturm grenadier says ;-)

    violette pap06 (Copiar).jpg violette pap07 (Copiar).jpg violette pap08 (Copiar).jpg

Pupils and eyelashes, I usually paint only the top line.....because the look seems to be more sweet.

    violette pap09 (Copiar).jpg

Lips in scarlet red (Small and heart shaped, like ladies of this period were in the habit of painting them) and gloss varnish, eyebrowns (If we draw adequately we can do the look seems more "suggestive". In this phase I also added a bit of red violet in the eyeshadows (with brush too). Also we can define the points of maximum light and shade...Jamie Stokes says: "I like how you have toned down the eyebrowns, as though face powder was applied"....it was at this moment when I painted with brush and very diluted paint, over the eyebrowns, to simulate powder make up ;-)

    violette pap10 (Copiar).jpg

Well If you have some question I will be pleased to answering you ;-)...Sorry for my bad english :-(

    Thanks again and kisses: Pepa.
