Here´s a Tyrannosaurus rex drawn with Z-brush by my pal David Krentz.

He´s had a 3D print made and used as a master to make moulds for casting conventional resin kits. Here you can see the 1/40 kit uppermost, in the centre a 1/72 3D-print and at the bottom a 1/144(!) 3D-print.

The 1/40 kit comes in 7 pieces along with a small resin base. Of course I had to have one for my collection, but actually I ended up ordering a pair of them from Dan´s Dinosaurs.

The kits arrived safe and sound a few days ago.

As you can see, there´s no want of detail on the castings with lots of gnarly osteoderms, miniscule pebbly scales and every tooth in that open gape is perfectly formed and cast with not a tip missing - a rare enjoyment in my experience.

For me it´s a refreshing change to want to paint an open-gaped Tyrannosaurus.

But, I did buy a pair of kits - knowing that old habits die hard. So ... this morning I got out my Gorilla super-glue along with my Dremel grinder and ...

Looks inquisitive, don´t you think? I like that.
Sniffing at the air ... there - not too far off in the distance ... smells like ... CARRION!!!

Beautiful! I have always loved David's sculpts but have never splurged on one yet. This may be the one for me. I will check out the link to that website. Thanks for posting Spike!

Can thoroughly recommend this kit, Gerald.
It´s smaller than I´m used to, but packed with intricate detail; casting quality is very high, too.
Hiding some of the joins is the only challenge.
    Go for it!
    Spike.

Wonderful sculpting. My favorite dinosaur when I was a lad was the triceratops.

Managed to get the gaping/bellowing Tyrannosaurus rex cleaned-up and built yesterday, despite the sweetest of distractions ...

Now on to some miniscule puttying and detailing work ...

But first, here´s how two rival Tyrannosaurus may have sized each other up before a serious bout of face-biting.
