Hello all

I like to share with you my latest efforts on the Pegaso 75 mm Roman tribune. So far only the body armour is considered done, except for the shoulder guards and the strappings of course.

Later, still additional (blood) staining etc. will be added to suit the groundwork.

All is done with oils over acrylics using colours such as raw umber, burnt umber, ivory black, yellow ochre, gold and silver. Metalic oilpaints were always mixed with the non-metalic oils. Also, during the process, some glazes were used to enhance certain effects. In the end the complete body plate was sealed with a heavily diluted coat of Humbrol's satin varnish.

I like your treatment with the metals Johan i take it you are using Printers ink mixed with oils , one other thing is the pitting on the armour as the kit or is it
your paint technique ,whichever it is, it is a nice effect.

Especially for you, Ron: no printer's ink was involved. I really used metalic oils (W&N) in my mixes. Also the 'pitting', as you called it, is a result of blending with a short-haired brush used in a stippling motion.

Indeed, a great loss for the Flemish figure painting scene.

Hi all

At last I am ready to show some more progress on the 75 mm Roman Consul from Pegaso Models.

This is a figure that seems to haunt me as I had to strip it completely because of some stupid mistakes I made. The blame is completely mine as the errors made were unrepairable.

As I had to start all over again, I chose to paint the tunic in another colour. Instead of the off-white I now painted it in a light blue, which in my opinion, suits the dandy styled and posed tribune very well.

I consider the face and the metal of the body armour done, the tunic and the purple stripes on it needing more highlights. The arms are adjusted using Uhu Tac for the purpose of these photos. The skin colour of the arms also needs more work on its shading and highlighting.

At the same time I also made some minor progress on Romeo Models' 75 mm Spanish Noble of the 17th century. On this figure the metal of the cuirass and the lace collar have been finished, but the face will be extra highlighted and shaded in the near future. And the eyes need a lot more work too.
