Finished this little gem from Carl Reid. As you all know my interest is great in WW 1 and I had to paint this. Reading alot where the Stretcher Bearer bring there wounded man I decided to make a "wedgie " and put him between a dressing station. I read alot about dressing station and it could vary from a shell hole till a tent or a church miles behind the frontline.
The tent is based on this picture :
It depicts a tent from the allies in France. Alot of stretcher bearers bring there wounded man to this kind of tents with or without help from ambulances.

So enough of that dry information. This is what I did with the stretcher bearer from Carl Reid.
As always the picture's don't do right to the colors.

Good idea with the tent part, Marc. Im not sure if I like the photo? Perhaps the lines to the tent could be straighten? Try to wax them with beeswax.

Very imaginative Marc but I find the B&W photo doesn't really work. I would prefer to see a colour hand painted background that ties in better. But again the idea is super and the figure is very well done.

I tend to agree with Colin though, I think a colour, hand painted background for the tent would look more convincing.

As far as the colored picture goes: I could not find a color picture of this subject. And I cannot paint a painting, I don't have the skills.
I wish somebody could paint that for me....I should apreciate that.

Very imaginative idea, Marc. The staining on the figure and stretcher is a grim reminder of the horrible thruth of war with widespread suffering, destruction and countless lifes getting lost. Well done!

Although I have to praise your general idea of the background and tent, I think the execution could have been done with a little bit more care. To be more precise the blending of the colours on the tent is harsh. Also, the ropes have to be straightened as, normally, these are under tension to keep the tent upright. Finally, the cap on top of the tent pole is misconceived compared with the original photos you have added. This cap needs to sit deeper and follow the lines of the canvas of the.

But again, I generally like what you have done.

I didn't see the bended rope till the pictures are taken. That is easy to fix. Good point of the captop. Gonna change that.

Nice idea Marc ! there wasn't a lot of colour in that war so maybe a sepia backdrop might work well ,then again if you are happy with it, then let it be

All the guys who made some comment thank you so much.
Finally with all the recommendations I made the dissisions.
Made a new backdrop into the tent in Sepia color and much darker so it doesn't attrack the eye from the figure and I must admit its much better. The picture must be trimmed tomorrow, but you get the idea.
The top on the tent is sculpted again like Johan mentioned and yes, its much better. Painting follows tomorrow.
