Truly evocative and could be used for any Commonwealth infantry. To be accurate, shouldn't the side of his helmet be turned up?

    Very cheeky Colin

Ian, very well done indeed. Really shows the fatigue factor after weeks of slogging in the mud.
Look forward to the finished product.

    Cheers

Not if one wants to be really accurate. The Australian jacket was quite distinctive - different from the Canadians and NZers who wore a jacket very similar to or the same as the British pattern.

OK - thanks for the clarification on the jacket. Didn't know that. I am just getting into WWI in a big way following some family history discoveries and there's lots to learn on what at first glance appear to be generic and boring uniforms. There are lots of subtleties that need to be mastered. Imagine surviving Gallipoli only to be redeployed into the trenches in France - unimaginable.

I just discovered yesterday that one of my Great Uncles served in 1/7th RWF and landed at Suvla on August 9, 1918. Amazing what family history one turns up with a little digging.
