Very nice painting. I love everything about this, from the excellent face, to the woodgrain on the back of the shield. The pattern on the bottom of the cloak is very well painted and even the detail on the horn. Well done Sir.

Your skin tones are nice and subtle and those eyes are peircing. Have to agree with the other guys about thre wood grain, its probably the best I've seen. Great work

It is an excellent rendition, but there is more to it than how'good' the paint job is. The approach to face painting and else is also different in a pleasant way (top picture and painting of white). Meticulous, sharp details are a welcomed replacement to the 'oh-so-dramatic' colour variations tempting over half of the painting population. Such a fond unconventionality.

I tried to draw the wood grain carefully, according to your comment it seems my effort paid off.

Between this amazing example and Mike Meehan's excellent recent rendition of the same figure, I'm now inspired to try and rescue my version from the back of the shelf where she's been hidden away for far too long.
    Thanks
