    Hello everybody
My name is Ken Fisher and I am an ex-pat Brit who retired to the Dominican Republic about five years ago. I was once a very keen modeler and figure painter in my youth but due to work commitments and other reasons I ceased producing about 25 years ago. When I was younger I used to work for Beatties model shop in London, doing all their window display models. I won a couple of medals at the Model Engineer exhibition and did a bit of free lance commission work, my most notable being a second world war SAS jeep diorama for the David Sterling. I was also a porcelain painter for David Sutty who created many large scale Waterloo period bone china pieces.
The bottom line is I found this site by accident and I have decided to return to the fold. I have just ordered some figures and busts, paint and sundries on line and I am going to attempt to rekindle some of my old skills. Not sure how it will work out as the eyesight is not what it was and the hand is probably not as steady. Thank you to all on here for giving me inspiration to try again.

Pleased to meet you Ken. There's plenty of good magnifiers out there, so I'm sure you'll be able to manage.

The DR is a wonderful place to live if you can accept it is a developing country. Unfortunately no local model shop so everything has to be bought online and as there is no regular postal service there is usually a two to three week wait for stuff to get here. Thanks for the welcome. I will post some pictures of my first work and take some honest flack from you guys.

I live just outside of Puerto Plata because I find the people more down to earth. Not great lover of Santo Domingo, it could be a city anywhere in the world. I have my little villa and pool and the beach is only 500 meters away so I can take my dogs walking along the sand. It was a big decision to come here but one I do not regret. Sold up everything in UK and only reason I go back is to see family.
