    Hello,

    A very nice piece.

I think the mud is very well done, I like the variety in shade. You can tell that some as dried.

Is that the one that whas at the SMC in Eindhoven???
If it is, it looked great. We talked about it at our stand, and we where all agreed that the mud was not very real.
So excuse me it was not the bust, but i really hope mine looks as good as yours.

Well,as a representation of a muddy soldier I think the mud looks good. The other choice would be to paint him clean, which probably would be OK but less than realistic, or cover him virtually from head to toe with the stuff, which would be realistic, but not that appealing. I think this is a good balance, and the mud look real to me. A nice mix of wet and dry. I wouldn't change it.

That can take a while. First i have to do a giant (200 mm) as commission.

For the helmet, i think when you put off and you pose it on the floor, it's the hole facing the sky... So mud over helmet.
For the shoulder, when you are right-handed you put the rifle butt on the shoulder. The rifle butt must be very muddy i think.
    For the buckelt, you're right...

Normaly, this guy should be more muddy but where to stop!

I do mountain biking on winter, and when i go to the shower i found mud at places i did not think! So it's difficult to find logical place and we have all differents ideas about this.

I take your critics like an help for me.
It 's only the sixth bust i painted on two years so critics make me better(y)

Hope you do bicycling on the road into the summer. Then we have the same passions.
For your sixth bust it as extremely well done. And we have to start somewhere. And remember, your next is always better.

Bicycle on the road?!? It's so boring!
I sell my road BMC last winter because i prefer Mountain Bike...
My next bust will be better if i listen comments and critics.

(The british paratrooper, the viking fury and a saxon warrior (54mm) next the poilu was mine too)
