    Impressive collection! :notworthy:

I have never seen that big white hat.

Have you tried to put some of that equipment on a mule?

    Grüß Di' Uli,

Good to hear from you! I really miss my time in Germany. Please say 'Servus' to Max and Otto for me whenever you see them.

    Grüß Di' Diego,

The big white hat is a local hat worn by people in the Caucasus Mountain region of Russia. It is also seen being worn by the Soviet Army, and by Gebirgsjägers fighting in that area during the war.

And yes I have used some of my packsaddles and baskets on a Haflinger (Austrian Mountain Horse also used by the Gebirgsjägers) and a horse...still looking for a mule, but my wife won't let me keep one in the back yard. :)

That hat is really weird to put in a figure. I am very tempted to sculpt a gebirsjager with such a garment! (y)
I understand your wife! the mules are really stinky animals. As a former mountain sargent, still remember the smell in the morning when I have to watch the food for about 40 of these beasts!
Congratulations again for your superb collection!

    Hola Bergkamerad Diego!

Always good to meet another mountain comrade! I take it that you were with the Spanish Army Mountain Troops? What kind of packsaddles did you use with your mules? Do you have any photos from that time?

Thanks for your compliment about my collection...you are seeing a little over 30 years of collecting this stuff.

I've been looking over your figures from your various posts and your blog. Outstanding work! Do you cast your figure to sell or just sculpt for yourself? I would love to see a Gebirgsjäger figure with the Caucasus hat! I think the one in the photo that I posted with his hands in his pockets would be a great pose.

If you need any more reference photos of the cap or Gebirgsjäger items, please let me know. When I was living in Germany during the 1980's, I worked with Max Hecker & Otto Goros and got them to do their line of Gebirgsjäger figures. I have also worked with Dragon Models, and military artists like Ron Volstad and Stephen Andrew.

Oh, here's a little film I shot last summer in the French Alps with a group of mountain troop reenactors that you might enjoy:

Yes, I was in the High Mountain Brigade in the eighties!
I spent some months with a "Cazadores" company and then went to the Support weapons company ( no more mules!)
Only have found some blurred old pics of the mules marching in a small snow strom:

    You are very kind.
I will think on you if in doubt with some piece of Gebirsjäger equipment!
I have sculpted figures for some manufacturers and collectors.
