Hi,

I´m new here, just registered today. I´d like to show one of my first vignettes since I started figure painting in 1/35. I used Vallejo Acrylics and 2 figures from the Dragon "Ambush at Kovel" figure set.
The wooden base I made myself, the stones one the ground are glued one seperately, the fence is a lasercut wooden one, which I painted with different tones.

Hope you like it, Critique is welcome, it´s my third vignette since I started painting historical miniatures.

not bad for a beginner ! I specially like the camo and the corrugated oil drum.
Only the wooden fence looks al little to tidy. You could add some dirt at the bottom of it and traces of fire next to the drum…..

thanks for the comments. I still got lot´s of problems when painting faces. I think the details on Dragon´s heads is not the best so it´s hard to work out the details. Hornet heads would be the better choice, but for practicing I´m fine with the Dragon´s. I´d also try to add more details and so on in the landscape thing and manufacure more unique bases of "special" wood sorts . When I see what breathtaking bases some modellers build I think I´m a total rookie in this part of figure modelling.

But I´ll try on, won´t be hard with this platform as a help .

a great sculpt is always easier to paint, soft features are the bane of a painter when trying to start out!


A simple thing with a fence is to add a single slanting paling. It just breaks up a worn fence like that, which has seen better days.

Ground work is great, figures hold together well.

Laser cut fence has a repeating pattern, however that's a limitation of materials used, not you as a composer of such nice little vignettes.

Definitely solid work being presented here!
