    Hello all,

Here are some pictures of my latest finished figure: a japanese army officer during an attack on Shaggy Ridge on New Guinea, 1943.

The figure is from Allarmi, scale 1:35 and painted with Humbrols.
Groundwork is done with Magic Sculpt and Greenline grass

    Some notes on the title:
Gyokusai , literally "shattered jade", is a Japanese euphemism for suicide attack, or suicide in the face of defeat (seppuku). It is based on a quote of the 7th century Classical Chinese text Book of Northern Qi, "a great man should die as a shattered jewel rather than live as an intact tile." It was applied to a conception of honorable death in defeat by Saigō Takamori (1827–1877), and employed as a slogan ichioku gyokusai "one hundred million broken jewels" by the Japanese government during the last months of the Pacific War, when Japan faced invasion by the Allies

    Kind regards,
    Robert Jan

Nice one mate, I like it very much - a very poignant note as well on the Japanese approach, just 1 small niggle if I may, I would have used a bit thiner cord for the pistol lanyard as it looks a little too thick for my eye.

The warrior ethic of the Orientals is elegant in its poetry and completely beyond my understanding! Superb miniature and excellent ground work!

    All the best,
    Dan

    Great work Robert Jan.
I would give the grass some more shades of green.
It looks for me as a great lawn.

Very nice work. I think this figure and how you have presented it with
that specific pose, the uneven terrain and greenery, brings a lot
of tension and atmosphere to the piece. And that is not easy with
a single figure that is 1:35th scale.

And also thank you for explaining the term shattered like a jewel. The text,
the historical aspects of it, were very interesting to me.
