Presenting The Lost Battalion’s 1/9 resin bust. He’s painted in Vallejo acrylics for the most part with some oil washes, such as in the feathers. Each of these is a separate part. I added decorations to each feather using a bit of wire, a 15/0 silver glass bead and painted thread. Attaching the feathers was a challenge since each attachment point is about 2 by 1 mm and the feathers don’t give like real ones. This resulted in some very visible uneven attachments along the brow. I hid these with picked out cotton from a cotton ball to represent the down commonly seen on this type of head dress. When I bought the figure, I also got a different base, but in test fitting him to the base, the braids got in the way. I had the base used here in my stash. It’s from John Jeffries and I chose it in part because the burl cutout replicates the curve of the chest and serendipitously, the left braid fits into another burl cutaway.
