Looking very nice indeed and I think the camo looks good also. The modern warriors always seem so difficult to paint.

Great to see you cracking on with the figure, he's looking really good. Cannot add any much more than what's been said, some good points there on the thread, or our pm. Cannot tell by the photo but the dark swirls connect to each other by tendrills/fingers, and some of the borders of the swirls have demarkation lines composed of dots in places. Does this make sense? The colours look good. Looking forward to seeing more pics and progress.

Thanks Mike, I agree. Modern soldiers are challenging to paint, particularly as their combat uniforms are so varied.

Thanks Carl, good to know you think I'm on the right track with the camo. Obviously my complaints about the excessive heat are falling on deaf and unsympathetic ears. No doubt while I'm sweltering, you're freezing your bollocks off. Stay warm mate, only three more months until its summer in England (And three and a half months before winter starts again). He he.

Its a bit short notice, but seeing as you're a friend, I'm happy to dance around a sacred fire, and see what I can do to get some cooler weather in, just for the modeling community over there....

as for the figure, up to your high standards, as usual. Like the subtle contrasts of a sweaty face, and a bleached uniform - it will be good to see how the weathering goes on this!

Just one question - have you completed painting the helmet cover? If so, the webbing tapes to retain foliage & cam materials should be a light khaki colour (Vallejo Iraqi Sand should do it); this being based on a brand new example I have at home.

Long time no talk ( I haven't been modelling much latley because of school... again). I like where your this figures going. Just asking if the uniform is the same as the Aussie one? If it is I have a fair few pics of my dad when he went to Afghanistan a couple years ago. The camo is just slighly different to the one your painting but you stuff is always top notch anyway

Hi guys,

I've been doing a bit more work on this figure lately and I thought it was time to update this thread.

Since I started painting this figure several months ago, I've allowed myself to be distracted by a number of other modelling projects.

That's pretty much how I operate; I start several figures, paint them up to about 60-70% finished and then leave them for a while as I fiddle with other projects, then I come back and finish off the one's that I really, really like.

Consequently, I start many more figures than I actually finish.

This one is nearing completion now. I have some groundwork and wiring to add and some subtle drybrushing and weathering effects to add to the rifle.

Hope you like it. Your comments are always welcome.

I am currently working on US Desert Storm camo and I can echo that modern camo is a lot harder to paint than one would think.... This one looks great Tony!
