Here is the Pioneer painted up. Was a fun project, a bit different to have a highlander with green facings and leggings etc. Painted with Reaper and Vallejos for the skintones, as well as printers ink for metals. More pictures can be seen Here.

I'm working on getting better pictures as these are a bit washed out, especially the contrast in the red coat.

Awesome Figure, Anders, superbly painted as usual !

May I ask though, How did you highlight the red without getting a pinkish hue ?

    Regards

    Hola Andy,

Thanks!! The reds were highlighted with red (scarlet) on a base color of cavalry brown, scarlet and a bit of black. By keeping the base color fairly dark (but still red) it is possible to add the highlights with more scarlet red, hence keeping it...well red! For the final highlights I may have added some Brown Sand, don't remember, but if you use this it will 'fade' the red as opposed to making it pink, and as such should be used sparingly.

    Hope this helps!

Andy, you can also use skintones to highlight red color.

    Cheers Mikko

    Thanks guys!

Good call Mikko! When I use flesh tone for red I usually prefer to use Brown Sand or Sunny Skintone, they both deliver a very nice faded red look highlight color without making it too pink.

    Marc,

Yes, the nose is very red, especially in the pictures. In person it is much, much more subtle (the whole thing is). When posting pictures 12 times larger then the actual figure such details show up as a bit extreme!

I believe you, seeing your work in flesh.
