    Hi again :)

this is my next Injection plastic project. mostly i have carved out undercuts, re-scored seams and generally tried to sweeten this up.

added MS hair and seperated the trigger finger. Did a bit on the face to try and improve the constipated look and make it a bit more of a "war face" .... hmmm

Oh and it has really tiny feet!

    some pictures of the preparation......

top is a finished ammo pouch below OOB

Left OOB and right after some knife work :)

    Hair and undercoat on!

First paint down on face, lots still to do :)

As always please feel free to comment, crit or correct

    :)

    Hi Mark,
First up I'd say well done for not going down the moey option.

I know that there are some of us are primarily modellers who like to dabble in history, and there are some of us are puritan historians who like to dabble in modelling. Most of us probably fit somewhere in the middle, and quite rightly so. A moey with this model jump suit would have limited just who it was meant to be (for the puritans!)

I can't believe Dragon didn't give the option of a M1 helmet with this kit! The only option in this scale is the (now out of production?) Warriors resin one.

    Cheers,
    Jon.

I have also worked on this figure and you are doing a great job.Two things I would suggest. One, add some length to his boots, they gave him some TINY feet. Second, I think the rifle would look a little more natural if it were leaning a bit in the other direction (top leaning inward), but thats just a personal preference. I also thought it was a bit chintzy of them not to include a helmet.

    Good Work!

EDIT:I missed that you noticed the feet. D'OH

    OhMa'Gosh . . I almost missed this one. . .

    Mark:

I have this figure and was just looking at the head the other day. You
solved the part of the head, that I thought was the main problem. To me
the piece that is provided to represent the Mohawk hair. . . ah "style" (eh,
not the best word, but I need a nudder cup of coffee; it is early here in the
    plains state) just doesn't work.

And the hair you've added really looks so good. From the close up of the
face after you applied the base coats, I can definitely see that you add a lot
of tones and colours that go beyond what we usually think of as flesh tones.

Wow, every time I look at your WIP pix of these 120mm/1:16th figures
you're doing, I learn so much. I don't mean to gush so. . . but for me
personally, the time you take to shoot and post the WIP/SBS pictures really
help me a lot to have a better understanding of what the possibilities are.

    Thanks a bunch, Maestro amigo

    Hi Mark,

I did this DML/ Dragon figure some time ago, and it ended up in my reject box. You've made some great modifications and really elevated this to another level. The subtle changes to the face and hair really domake all the difference. Can't wait to see you paint the rest of him.

This looks like the start of another geat figure mate, i really like what you can achieve with a stock figure and transform it into a quality piece.

    Rob .... :)

Jburch .... thanks :) yeah the feet! unless i can scrounge a new pair of boots these stay :( and the gun is now bonded to the hands so it's staying as is :) DOH!

Rick ..... Thank you! Glad you like it :) i sometimes wonder if doin WIP pics is actually of any use to anyone but me ( i so spot the errors at these magnifications ) .... :)

Tony! ... Thank you! this figure is a bit of a stinker but i decided i really wanted to have a go with what was in the box. it might end up defenestrated yet :)

    Steve ... Many thanks :)

    Ray ... Thanks again! :)

    Parallel painting ...........

I have been playing about with face painting and did another head at the same time as the DML one. These both use exactly the same palette and mixes and essentially the same stages/layering .... still lots to do on both but i plan on half a bottle of wine next so it will have to wait ;)

    Great progress, Mark.
Your skin tone is very beautiful and realistic.
The pace of the making was also becoming speedy, wasn't it?
I'd like to see development next to the early times.

    Pedro .... Thank you! :)

Mitsutaka .... Many thanks! i did not take many pictures of the early painting. :(

    Transitions, Transitions!!

have been working on the transitions unsuprisingly ;) still a long way to go with tidying it up and yet more transitions :)

    For information uniform colours....

    Base AV Green Ochre
1st Shade Base + AV Eng. Uniform
    2nd Shade AV Eng. Uniform

1st High Base + AV Deck Tan
    2nd High AV Deck Tan

A bit of a challenge i thought, getting the Transition through 3 colours. Yeah right! what an idiot! the Patches took 5 mins ( 3 shades of green )

    Doh! ( slaps forehead! )
