Here's a few in progress pics of my latest. The Zis truck blown onto the roof of the Russian hut is based on an actual photograph. The hut is sctachbult from various bits and pieces of wood that I've had lying around. The Stug is the TAMIYA kit built pretty much OOTB and the figures are DML with HORNET heads and the hands to be sculpted from putty to get the proper grip and feel. There's still a ways to go, but once I'm satisfied with the genral layout I'm going to set it aside and start a desert dio. Comments and/or suggestions always welcome.

This should be good. Can you post your reference photo?

As always John, your dioramas look good. Just one thing....maybe it's me. Shouldn't the kneeling figure in the back be in the front? Or maybe second? Like I said....it's just me but it's your dio and I'm sure you will finish this to your normal high standard!

    Thanks for the comments guys.
    Carl, here's the photo.
Jim, I know what you mean and I've been fiddling around with it. I orginally had the guy in back, up front, but he didn't look right to me, so I moved him to the back. I'll figure the whole thing out one of these days.....weeks.....or months!

I'm still fiddling around with the scene because there are alot of different angles and the figure placement has been the toughest part so far. I've taken a couple more shots with the figs re-arranged. Any input there is greatly appreciated. I still need to cut and adjust the hut to give the impression of it 'collapsing' under the weight of the truck. Speaking of which it is the old ALLAN kit and quite a horrendous build. You can't really tell from the photos, but the road itself is a typical Russian dirt track, first churned into mud after the fall rains, then frozen over with the onset of winter so it's set below the actual base height. Once the scene is finished you'll see what I meant. For the shawls, scarves, and sheets I use AVES Apoxie Sculpt. Any comments and/or suggestions are always welcome.

Thanks for the photo John. The question is, how did that get there?

I think the second grouping is much better. It makes them seem a little more worried about what is around the corner.

I agree with Jeff. The second grouping is much better. Although the standing figure looks a little out of place. The original four look a bit apprehensive for whatever it is that's around the corner. That makes the "new" figure look out of place. Unless of course he has church bells for testicles! LOL!

Question? what are you going to use to fill the "dead spaces"?

John excellent looking setting and figures! And I'm curious to see it develop.
I agree with Jim on the fifth figure in the row, all are in a very tens/sneaking position and the fifth figure in the row just stands straight. Maybe you can bend him also or place him with his back against the shed.

    regards,
    Marcel.

Thanks again for the comments and suggestions everyone. The fifth figure is just a filler to see if I wanted to add another or leave it at 4. Think I'm just going to leave it with the original 4 figures. And I agree with the consensus that the second grouping is better. I'll be able to fill in the dead spaces with rubble and the usual detritus of war plus a few extra bits. Thanks again to all and I'll have more updates in a bit.
