    Hi all;

    It's been a while since I've posted anything new, mostly due to the fact that I don't have my usual photo set up. But seeing as I take terrible photos anyway, I thought that was a lousy excuse for not posting. So allow me to present for your critiques, one of Pilipili's recent releases which I purchased while at Euromilitaire in September.

    I took the liberty of "fleshing out" his face a bit, as the smile lines on my version were somewhat inconsistent from one side to the other. I also re-did the chain mail on the back of the head with a wee piece of hollow plastic tube filed down to a "c" shape. I have a couple of other pieces near completion; namely Pegaso's newest Hussar ADC in 75mm and Pegaso's Bashibuzak bust. I'll post some more pics when those are finished. For now I welcome any comments you'd wish to make. Cheers.

    I'm pleased to see your'e back in business mate. That's a terrific bust and an excellent paint job. The metallics are particularly well done.

    Hello Glenn
    The work on balancing out the face has really paid off and a fine job on the mail.
    BTW won't manage the club over next 2 weeks, education awards and committee meetings.
    See you soon
    Derek

    Hi Tony, John and Carl; thanks for the comments guys. I enjoyed painting this bust a great deal, and with a little TLC, it can turn out to be a real cracker.
    Dave and Derek, thanks for your comments as well. I hoped to be out to the club, but my GPS got crushed, literally, so until that little unit gets replaced I might have to wait otherwise I am likely to wind up in Ireland instead of Irvine.

    Thanks Stefano, I did try to pick colours that would compliment each other. Usually I overlook that process and hope it all works out in the end.

    Nice work Glenn! Could you share your flesh mix? This is exactly the flesh tones that I have been trying to work towards.

    Thanks,

    HI Gary; I paint in oils over top an acrylic (Valejo) base of flesh and some medium brown.

    Shadows are Burnt Umber with Burnt Sienna. Deep shadows are the previous mix with a touch of Lamp Black or Sepia.

    Highlights are achieved with Naples Yellow and Titanium White, with the lightest highlights just pure Titanium White.

    I have been known to add small dots of scarlet red just below the cheek bones for a bit of "colour", but if done properly you wouldn't really even notice it very much, and certainly you wouldn't want to over do the red, as then it would look like your warrior is wearing blush. Hope that helps.

    Thanks Steve and Brent. Nice to hear from my fellow Canucks now and again. I am glad I can still squeeze in some painting time while here in Scotland. There are a good group of extremely talented artists here who provide inspiration and encouragement. They also provide a very high standard to try and live up to, so it's good for me to keep practicing. I'll post some more stuff soon.
