My great mate Alan Mackie has asked me to post these progress pics of his latest magnificent Naked Army 315mm conversion.

Alan started with the Australian Mounted Artillery Trooper figure and has converted it to represent an Australian stretcher bearer of the 11 Field Ambulance A.I.F. on the Western Front circa 1917-18.

As you can see from the pics below, Alan is a true master at converting these magnificent Naked Army figures. The three figures standing next to each other are all based on the same stock figure and have been converted extensively.:eek::eek:

Alan tells me he intends to have the Stretcher Bearer carrying a water bottle in his right hand.;) He tells me he still has some work to do on the face and the stretcher, but I'm sure you'll agree this is already a magnificent piece of sculpting and conversion work.:):)

I'm in awe of your skill and your passion for this subject mate. I'll let the photos speak for themselves.:D

    Admirable.
I suppose that most of us are painters and not modellers, when you see someone going to the effort of carrying a theme through like this it's really inspiring and more than a bit humbling.
More of us should make more of an effort to even attempt a little tweak jere and there.
    Regards
    Derek

    Stretcher Bearer - undercoated

Alan has now undercoated his stretcher bearer and attached the water bottle to the right hand. In the left hand, which is gently holding the strecher balanced against his shoulder, he will place a cigarette.

It's difficult to see in the photos but Alan has also added two overseas service chevrons on the right lower sleeve and two wound stripes to the lower left sleeve.

He has scratchbuilt the gas mask on the chest and the first aid bag slung over the shoulder, and made a number of major and minor anatomical changes to get the pose just right.
