I'm going for Matt Le Blanc (Joey) from friends.

If the arch comes with the Kavas Bashi then it's not bad value considering where prices are going.

The Kavas Bashi figure looks awesome! His left hand looks a little strange, but I still see myself buying this one. Dont care for either bust, though.

I like Kavas Bashi figure, but the expression on the Samurai bust seems a bit extreme without seeing the rest of his body. (Is he afraid, angry, insulted?)

I like the Kavas Bashi figure, interesting motif.

The Sioux warrior seems to have a Caucasian set to the painting, which may be throwing off my perception of the sculpt underneath. (I think that some of the facial characteristics, such as a face with broad cheeks and a large flattish nose are close to the Google image attached... Just the painting needs to move towards American Indian skin tones, in my opinion)

Steven, going by how ornate his armour is,he is a fairly high ranking samurai. The samurai is shouting. As a bust, the only body likely to be seen is if someone sculpts one:)

As for how is he shouting (angry at some peasants, issuing a war cry in defiance, just had a bee crawl down his armour and sting him) that is up to the viewers interpretations.......

The Kavas Bashi figure looks a fun challenge to paint, the Sioux would benefit from better skin tones, the Samurai is probably my pick, as it would be fun to do all that armour around the face

    Cheers

    Hi Folks,

I please find attached images of the master sculpt of the Sioux bust, together wth images of the bonnet. This was worn by Chief "White Bull" at the "Little Big Horn",He was rumoured to be the Indian that killed Custer. As you will see from the bottom image the split horns hang down.

    Nice one Carl!

The painting has definitely compromised the character of the sculpt, as your pics of the master show. I often find this to be the case when people paint my portrait figures: If they use a formulaic approach to the face painting, rather than following the sculpted form, the character of the face will be lost. Unfortunate, but true. It takes more than competent formula painting technique to pull character from a face.

The Bashi is brilliant! Yet another top notch sculpt from Maurizio. He never seems to fall short.

The problem with the Samuari bust is one I have discussed before: a facial expression alone is not enough to carry a violent expression such as this. Without arms or body language, such a face seems attached to a strait-jacketed body: one without the necessary body language to carry through the expression. In my experience, this hardly ever results in a satisfying figure.

This bust is a case in point. Beautiful detail, but it looks a bit stilted and oddly constrained. I suggest that replacing the facial expression with something more subdued will result in a better piece....

    Cheers Mike,

As you said Bust are not easy subjects to execute, The canvas is a restricted without arms. Less is more!!

As for the Soiux piece: Indians are not easy to paint, Because of the skin tones and the individuality of the subject. There is no colour scheme to follow.

Althought the piece is wearing Sioux regalia and "White Bull's" bonnet it's not a true character piece because there is no imagery (that I could find) of him at that time, only as an old man. So I gave the best representation of him I could with some character, subtle attitude and lashings and lashings of artistic licience. I think/hope it worked out?))))

    Anyway cheers again Mike!!

Mike Good has it spot on, his observations and the black and white thumbnails show the quality of Carl's sculpt.
