    Chas,

What a different subject, we all think of German or British para's, and mainly associate Japanese soldiers fighting in dense jungle.
What scale is it, looks 1/35 and is it commercial or converted.?

    Cheers Ken

    G'day Ken,

Yes, it is 1:35 scale. I converted parts from both Dragon and Tamiya's Japanese infantry kits. The head is from Hornet.

    Thanks for your comment!

A very interesting subject Chas. I especially like the base. Shows you what I know about the Pacific theater, I did'nt realize the japanese had paratroopers!

Chas, having followed this project over on HF Forum, I really like the way it's turned out. Seeing pistol in position the figure makes more sense.

    looks Good Chas,
Nice to see an uncommon figure bought to life.

Thanks for sharing, hope we can see the figure as he scrambles for kit through the undergrowth!!

    Cheers

Thanks jjgurk, it is a little known subject, though the success they had early war was phenomenal. I have included snippets of the story in the HF thread, which I linked in my initial post.

Cheers Tony, I'm looking forward to seeing your work at WASMEx too!

Matthew, your support has been great. :)

Jamie, thanks mate. I will position the figure within the undergrowth but will try to keep him as visible as possible.

Hello. What colours did you use to paint the uniform?

    Thank you in advance

Great to see a paratrooper who is not from E 1/506, 1 Para, or 6th Fallschrimjaegers! Excellent idea and equally great execution. Nice bit of jungle also. Thanks!

    Hey Jaime,

I used Vallejo Japanese uniform, USA green and desert yellow to get this shade. I can't give you exact ratios as I mix colours by eye.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks for your kind comment Steve. :)

    Here is the completed vignette.

This morning I was wondering about an appropriate title, so I did some research on the old Japanese dialogue "Kanji". To say the least I was very surprised to find "Yabuhebi" - meaning "a snake in the bush". The word is used in Japanese superstition, meaning to reap ill fortune from an unnecessary act. It comes from the likelihood that poking a bamboo bush (yabu) may flush a snake.

What a perfect title for this vignette! ;)

I hope you like the end product. Comments and Critique welcome as usual.

    Chas ;)

    Hi Chas,

Excellent work mate. The jungle vegetation is excellent and the figure looks very realistic. Perhaps the scene needs a snake added ???

    Hi Chas,

Great work on the vegetation and painting,
IMHO the only thing missing for me, ( the snake's in the tree Tony :)) is because the subject of a Japanese paratrooper was unusual , perhaps if you added part of an open parachute drapped over a bush just behind him. This would enhance " Yabuhebi ".

    Thanks for showing
    Cheers Ken

G'day Tony, thanks for taking the time to give your feedback on my projects, I really appreciate it mate! (Get some glasses) ;)

Thanks for your comment Ken, a parachute would've been a great idea, good suggestion. But to be honest, I'm just too bust at school to attempt something like that. I won't be starting anything else until December when school finishes. I have to make some sacrifices if I am to pass my courses this year... unfortunately, modelling is one of them. :(

    Thanks for the feedback!
