    Hello All,
This project has been on the backburner lately, but have started back on it after some inspiration from a recent visit to the QMHE held in Brisbane. The Horse is a casting from an original with some additions. The saddle is detachible for casting purposes.comments welcome.

    Andy,

I love it, I want it.

The horse looks magnificent, great muscle definition in the legs and shoulders.

The trooper's saddle and equiptment looks authentic, but obviously there's still much to do.

I can't wait to get my hands on this when he's finished.

By the way, what scale is he??

    Re Tony

The figure is in 90mm.Yes,there is much to do as you say.more stowage for the saddle yet to come.im hoping to make optional hats for the rider.A slouchie and a pith helmet. The trick with this figure and the horse is to make them look as one which is not that easy ,I hope it looks convincing as it is.

    Hi Andy,

Thanks mate - 90mm is a good scale to work in. I'm not sure about the pith helmet though, I've never seen pics of Australian Light Horseman wearing pith helmets on horse back - perhaps a steel helmet instead, so you could have the option of doing him on the Western Front???

To me both horse and rider look "as one".

    Re Tony

Im intending him to be mainly a NZMR figure ,but im sure I can accomodate an Australian flavour.

Good onya mate, forgive me for presuming he was an Aussie.

New Zealand Mounted Rifles would make an excellent subject, and apart from the head gear almost indistinguishable from ALH.

    Hey Andy,

Figure is coming along very nicely. Hope to see your progress at the next meeting. Hope all went well in brisbane and you didn't damage that arm any more by bending it too much.

    This one's looking good,Andy.
I like the idea of the pith helmet because it would identify him as Kiwi rather than ALH.
Looking forward to your next post.

    Awesome Andy,

The choice of head gear is brilliant. I like how the rider sits in the saddle, it looks very natural.

Keep going mate. This is definitely a "must have" for me.
