    Hi!

This is my last but one project, I made September 2007 until July 2008.

It is called „Barbara me tellus orbisque novissima magni sustinet et saevo cinctus ab hoste locus“
(I stand on barbarian lands at the outer end of the world an the place is encircled by the wild enemy)

It shows a scene before the battle at the "pontes longi" (long bridges) in northwest Germania in the year 15 a. C.

You see two 90mm-Figures by Andrea.

The Centurion is a little conversed - he gets a new sword in the right scale and it is fixed in the historic right way, consequently I had to change the "peryges" (lether straps).

The 'cornicen' I made from the 'Signifer' of Andrea, the 'cornu' (trumpet) is self-constructed.

The 'signum" I rebuilded in an realistic one of the XX. Legion, as she was stationed at Castra Vetera (City of Xanten, Germany), with a "Corona Muralis" (Wall Crowne), an order, that was given to the first unit which conquered the wall of an enemy-city.

The Original by Andrea shows the Signum of the "Ermine Street Guard" (a reenactment-society in UK).

For, this is only my fifth project, I'm sorry that I cannot show you more, yet.

But in Autumn I will start my next projekt.

    Thank You for looking.

    Greetings

    Nice convertions, especially the Cornicen.
I would give the figures a little more contrast, and give the groundwork a wash of Raw Umber.
    Thanks for sharing.

    Cheers

    Hi Martin,

Great work. Clearly you have a real passion for Roman history and your research is impressive. Your modelling skills are equally impressive and I look forward to seeing your next project. Do you do other subjects besides Romans??

    Cheers

I started with a few imperial russian cossacs - but they are unfortunatly "unshowable".

Now my "homefield" are the romans, and my next projekt will show some romans again.

    Greetings
