Marco at Bestsoldiers sent it to me, he is quicker at getting the kits sent to me than getting them in the UK, great service

Thanks guys for you kind comments. I am spending most of the weekend painting the trousers, I am doing small check patterns in shades of grey, why do I do this to myself, I will try not let it drive me to crazy.

Very nice, mate. I always enjoy work such as yours that uses a subdued palette. Question, for the shirt, did you start with a dark brown (Sepia, Burnt Umber) base and work your way up to off white highlights or did you start from the off white and darken down with shadowing?

    Tommi,

Your work is amazing. I cannot believe the amount of detail in such a small scale.

Thanks again guys for your kind words, I am having a great time with this one, Can’t wait for the next new Soldiers Roman to drop through the letter box.
    Paul
I started with a Humbrol light flesh tone as the undercoat on the shirt, the oil base colour is titanium white with a small amount of raw umber mixed in to tone it down, the shadows are sepia oil then allowed to dry for about an hour in the hot box, the deepest shadows are then applied with a mixture of burnt umber and black and blended with a fine watercolour chisel brush. The highlights are the base plus more white then white for extreme highlights.
    Hope this helps
    Cheers
