This is one of the best representation of a Roman of that period.

    Great sculpting again by Yury.
I would suggest it's destined to become a classic among ancient figures.Well done.

Very nice figure overall and the mail texture is wonderfully done, very impressive how uniform it is. Great that there are two options for shield and head. With a bare head though the helmet should probably be supplied - where is it if he's not carrying it himself?

This appears to be based on one of the figures on the "Altar of Domitius Ahenobarbus" in the Louvre, the legionary extreme left in this image.

Anyone in need of inspiration, the battle scene on the cover of Peter Connolly's The Roman Army (Caesar's siege at Alesia) shows essentially the same shield (uncovered) and bronze Montefortino helmets from a few angles, plus the foremost figure at bottom-left has this type of unusual shoulder doubling on his lorica hamata.

Most interesting Roman miles I´ve seen in a very long while.
Hope the castings do justice to the sculpt.
I promised myself no more Romans, but now...

    Spike.
