Kind time of day dear colleagues and friends!
Allow to share some process of sculptural modelling of horsemen in various poses. It is my project " Mountain Man " a figure №2. I like creativity Frederic Renington, both Frank McCarthy, and Dave McGary, and Paul Calle, and.. It is pleasant much.;)
My project will consist of two different figures of horsemen of 75 mm " “ Mountain Man ” the First figure is finished 100 % - soon I want to show for you a ready figure №1.
Here some photos of my old attempt of statement of a pose for the horseman climbing down a mountain. №2 I began a figure many times, and also many times stopped and made anew, 7 or 8 months - did not hurry up;). Now I have put a pose and I have pleasure to finish a figure №2 and to show for you my projects “ Mountain Man ” 75 mm.

At various times it is a lot of artists and sculptors address to this pose of the horseman, but the first has certainly made Frederic Renington! After him{it} similar sculptures and pictures - Vic Payn, D. Michael Thomas... have appeared.............. Frank McCarthy.....
I also admire with this pose and have made the, but I change a pose of the horseman " Mountain Man ” and have chosen a variant to hold a gun as in picture McCarthy in the right hand.
Now I finish muscles horses (anatomy) and I mould clothes for the person.
Yours faithfully, I do not say goodbye, Sergey.

    It in a photo a torso and a head from a figure “ Mountain Man ” - №1.
For the first figure I used images (clothes) from artist Paul Calle and attempt to make a new pose for a horse.

Chris - Marc-Vergilius-Rocco-Guy - thanks for your attention!
It is an initial stage, it is now made more on many. Certainly to show continuation for you.
Pose of a horse for descent{release} of 45 degrees very much a steep slope - a pose of a horse very complex{difficult} for modelling, and I for a long time could not understand work of back legs{foots} and frequently came back and altered. Now I hope have consulted!?
Also I thank Guy for his{its} help with many images for Mountain Man - thanks Guy! I hope your brushes my horsemen will paint;).
Yours faithfully, I do not say goodbye...........

Wow! That is a difficult pose to attempt, Sergey. It looks good so far. :)

    Hi Wendy - thanks!
Certainly it is unexpected difficulty - the pose simple seems, but appeared very complex{difficult}. I some times sawed back legs{foots} and a basin, in a result it was necessary to check a skeleton on a computer :) .
    Yours faithfully.

Oh, the back legs ;) Awesome sculpting and useful picts. Western subjects aren't my cup of tee, but I like the pose.

I'm looking forward to see it finished!

    Cheers,

Hi John - it is glad you to hear, thanks!
Hi Doug - thanks! I and my friends will have gratitude for additional photos!
Hi Balázs-:) this really difficult place! And all this pose was a huge problem for modelling.

In this pose it is more than the increasing muscular weights and all small muscles are involved in any other pose - all pose of a horse for such position is a huge pressure{voltage}! Here it is necessary to put a skeleton correctly and to show a pressure{voltage} which tests a horse.
Now I wait the answer from some manufacturers and I can not (while) to show any more much further process. But with the great pleasure I shall show some following stage - at this stage I have much made for a relief, behind exception the internal parties{sides} of legs{foots}. Inside I finished legs{foots} after a partition of all figure.
Please look - here it is well visible a pressure{voltage} and anatomy.
I shall have also gratitude if you will see and will tell possible{probable} mistakes.
Thanks friends, I do not say goodbye, yours faithfully, Sergey.

For a static pose and a pose with small movement of a rule simple for a skeleton - but for the big movement with the big corners of rise of legs{foots} and the maximal straightening there is very much a prominent aspect of movement of a skeleton! Pay attention as legs{foots} back move and bent - they always miss aside and have an essential break in knees!
As well forward legs{foots} at full rise and straightening have a tension of sinews and converge forward to a uniform point not much.
It is not necessary for a static pose, but such rules are desirable for applying to a strong and fast pose.
These traffic regulations are very good for observing alive horses or photos.
Forgive that I speak these simple rules - you certainly know them!
    I do not say goodbye....

One more small newans - under condition of two legs{foots} are extended forward, shoulders act above than a breast. Similar as though the breast (has failed) between shoulders below.
During modelling I did not put a horse on a support and have casually seen one more possible{probable} variant for this pose - the person pulls a cord (lasso), and the horse rests:). It is mere chance.
    Yours faithfully.

Great work Sergey...again!!!! Hopefully one day I can come close to the skill you possess.:)
I see you made the mountain man after Remington...It is one of my favorite illustrators (artist)...as a matter of fact, the Mountain men is one theme I expect to explore for my first mini-sculpture...(i am a little bit scared:eek:
    Questions:
I have seen where you guys sculpt fur...How do you sculpt fur so well in figures so small?
You showed us how to make a mold for human skeleton (Каркас для модели человека) (I could not upload image...sorry ) What is the Rubber material used for the mold???

I know is a lot of questions but I am just starting out (and confused).

Before I forget, I have followed your advice and bought some Magic sculpt....and Fimo, Super Sculpey, Kneadatite!!! :D

Thank you Sergey, in advance for all the help...Best regards...Hector
