The elements as shown - sword, shield, crest on his helmet, lorica etc - in this combination do not work as to accuracy nor even remotely resemble Roman Cavalry - do peruse romanarmy.com forum - they got all the answers.
Arguably this could be a very nice piece if these errors had been corrected - it would be a shame to leave him as he is now..

I always am proud of the work and work.
Also I read the historical literature much and I find repeated acknowledgement{confirmation} of all fragments from various sources. Also always I compare and I consult with experts. Many various books and various authors are necessary to read for the beginning to mould and model. Also after collecting and check of the information it is necessary to draw and count all the sizes long for scale - and only after that I start modelling.

how about you look at the orignials and some very precise works like mr Bishop's Roman Military Equipment or Roman Cavary Equipment by Dixon, and one Osprey - out of series of 3 - on Roman MIlitary Costume by Graham Sumner (I can send you a copy of plates with pertinent description via email- no problemo)
As shown your books are rather popular (Wsadniki Wojny - got that one or outdated - like that old Osprey Roman Army book, even Conolly is a bit outdated on some late Empire stuff), so these do get confused
Also the plates from St Petersburg Collection are truly bueatiful reconstructions of the Roman Army but not ture reference materials per se.

please fill free to look at these samples and make your mind whether your 'cavalry officer' is indeed an example of 3rd century Roman cavalry officer.

Helmets - there is a table with dates and surviving examples

shields - oval for cavalry, but 3rd century rather lacking - suriving exmaples are from Dura Europos or art from mosiacs etc, but your shield is too small and there are problems with the way he is holding the shield etc - look at another Osprey by Ros Cowan- Imperial Roman Legionary 161-284, as it has some nice exmples of those Europos Shields - also I could send you images etc

trousers - 3rd century is the beginig of the long throusers in Roman Army - like those from Thorseberg - and even the iconography form the Eastern part of the Empire shows long pants put inside military boots or no long pants but fascia crurales - puttees/leg bindings

Boots - very important - with spurs etc - Dura Europos is very important here

as to your historical acuracy - well, not so good all the time - eg Polish Winged Hussar for Seil or your choice to show Indian warriors' horses witrh flying tails when they (Cheyenne, Sioux, Crow etc) tied their horses' tails for war etc - but nobody is perfect, so do not feel ofended please, just friendly correction


and per my work - do I need to show work to post? I think not - but as per my own work I am mostly an illustrator and sculpt only for fun from clay etc, but love to look at miniatures and the whole process etc

what it means that these cited works are the best semi-popular sources for the Roman 3rd century AD cavalry ! - there is also the much more detailed and very specialised work - Dura Europos Report of couple years ago - which I have as well
St OPetersburg collecion images are not shamefull just fancy a bit outlandish, but still very beautiful, and until mr. Sumner's artwork far better what Osprey had produced. Vsadniki - I have no comment on the text as it is very popular - but the illustration -they are a quite a bit below the Osprey Roman titles.

As per internet - in this case the photos of the orignals - it beats going to all the musuems that are located around the world...

as I think you have troubles with your English translation then I am not going to take any offense to your little insults and ad personam fallacious reasoning; it is most likely you got lost in translation - and by the way, I am a lawyer and historian, and because of my profession I do try to conduct careful research before I say something about history etc.

I also finish the new project the Russian national hero " Kulikovo fight 1380 ", he/she is orthodox soldier - monk Peresvet the victim at the first o'clock of fight for Russia in single combat with the Mongolian soldier.
Very much I hope that my new Russian and orthodox hero will not wake " a storm in desert " or a tornado national conflicts.
