I wish it was an original! :)

It's sculpted by Victor Konnov and sold by Elisena. It's a fantastic figure and great fun to paint.

Wonderfully painted, Barry! That figure kit must have gone under my radar.

Love the painting that Victor got the inspiration from. I believe it was a
Detaille study of General Canrobert (sp?).

    Are you going to MFCA?

    Thanks Jason!

I am not familiar with the painting. I'm a bit surprised since I've always been interested in Canrobert and the French army in Crimea, and I have quite a few books with Detaille prints. Can you tell me where I can find a copy of it?

I will be at MFCA. I'm looking forward to seeing your latest.

    Barry,

The image is from the book "L'Armee De Napoleon III-Collections Historiques du Musee de l'Armee Vol. 2" by Paul Willing. It's in French and has a ton of pictures of artifacts, illustrations and models dressed in original uniforms/equipment. Sadly, most images are small and in BW. I believe I found this copy on e-bay a few years back.

The Detaille painting looks unfinished but shows a good description of Canrobert. I really like the non-regulation dress these French officers of the day practiced. The baggy chasseur type trousers tucked into long boots and his frock worn over his sword belt and sash. Not to mention his chapeau tilted in a jaunty fashion. Man, subjects like this makes the fingers itch!

Looking forward to seeing you and your work at MFCA.

Thanks for the pic. I'll have to look for that book. I have 2 of the Napoleonic ones from that series and they are very useful.

    See you at MFCA,
    Barry

    Great pictures !

I love that figure of George Preddy in the cockpit of his Mustang by John Rosengrant ! Brilliant ! And I see Bill Horan is still active in the hobby too, with some great figures.
