Prussian Leibhusaren Officer

    Guys,

This is my first posting, my latest build - Prussian Leibhusaren (Life Hussar) Officer.

A 120mm Napoleonic resin kit from Verlinden-Product (VP #1315). This kit is the copy of the last master piece sculpted by the late Sid Horton... I got it from Squadron mail order when it's on sales a couple years back :D

Although the figure listed as 120mm, but it stand 130mm tall (exculding the shakos = hat)... in fact most of the VP 120mm Napoleonic figure measure 130mm after assemble. Wonder if anyone in VP notice this??

    - Scratchbuilt and replaced the sabre with plastic card (already broken in the box)

    - The existing buttons sizes are not consistant and some missing (I presume cause by the destorted mould). I've cut them all out, drill holes and insert shortern dressing needles as replacement.

The chrome effect of the replaced buttons (needle head) surprise me (original plan to paint them in metalic silver) that I decided to just coat them with Future.

    - Kitchen aluminium sheet trim and glue on the death's head (on the hat) and sabre.

    - Humbrol matt aluminium on all the piping and lace, then a light wash with matt black oil paint. Lastly hilighted with metaic silver.

    - Pelisse, jacket was painted with Tamiya acrylics Nato black, hilighted with various grey and shadow with flat black.

    - The resin battleground scenic base comes with the kit was painted and dry brush with Tamiya acrylics and oil wash.

CP, Nice work. Try taking a few pictures of this figure indoors. I think the sunlight washed out the contrast the figure has. The one photo that shows the work you've put into it is the detail shot of his feet that shows your groundwork.~Gary

    Welcome to the Planet CPTan!

Your work is great in all aspects!
The only comment I can make is about the background in the photos, the green is a bit aggressive and IMHO makes a lot of shading etc. less visible.

I am looking forward for your next project

    Kind regards,

    Luka

    CP,
first of all welcome! Secondly, very nice wotk on this piece. I agree with Gary, maybe some shots inside would help show more contrast in the figure. Keep 'em comin'!

Thanx for the kind words guys.

    garyjd,
U r right about the outdoor sunlight. I'll try indoor shot next time.

    bosko,
About the background or "backdrop" (is that what photographer all it?)... well I've not much experience in photo shooting. The most I've done is snap shot family pictures :) I've seen super model images (looks professional) posted here. Would like to know and learn the skill on miniature photo shooting too.

    sharpie95,
About the buttons, they're just plain dressing pins. I just cut them shot and insert (super-glue) into the drilled holes. Is this good enough?

    regards,
