Hello everybody

Just thought I would introduce myself on the forum, after seeing Dan Mortons post about the lack of modellers I thought I would add myself to the fold. I am more of a pc whizz to be honest which you would normally think would be the very antithesis of this particular hobby, but I have been building scale models since my mum bought me an Airfix Henschel HS126 (cough cough) years ago I have recently moved on to figure painting and started off with a bust of a US ranger at Normandy, which i have yet to finish, I was happy with it till I saw the galleries on here



Anyway it still needs a lot of work but will show the finished result when I am able to get the eyes right and take better photographs.....

Welcome to the Planet and the Dark Side of modelling. Your bust looks great. I reallly like the look of the five o clock shade.

- About the eyes i think you need some advice.... i 'm no masterpainter but this is what i have done: paint black lines around the blue iris, remember you see no circle, but just a half at each side (look into somebody else his eyes).
- The black pupil, well i painted with the point off a needle.

The khaki is well painted but need some more shadowing.

But it is a really great start and i hope you forgive my neatpicking and i really hope that you stay on figure painting...

Meg thanks for the tip on the eyes, as it stands the face is the only part of the bust that is near completion all the rest is really just base coating before i get to the main course as it were. One question someone might be able to help with, how should I deal with the underside of the helmet, or specifically the parts that would normally be a cavity between the head and the inside of the helmet. You can see from the picture that this rea is solid resin, the angle of the picture would show this whereas on normal viewing this would most likely be obscured, any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Oh and for the record I am open to criticism just as much as praise, it's how we learn after all
