Absolutely stunning work! The attention to detail and the amount of work looks staggering! Very nice stuff, and a dramatic action pose to boot. I really like the reference pictures as a comparison to help show his research and attention to ahthenticity. Great stuff!

Among flat tribes many historians and artists allocate Indians Crow, as the most skilful manufacturers of beautiful clothes. The same opinions and many next tribes on art of this people.
I have made this miniature not quickly - thus distracted from manufacturing other figures. :)
Much collected the information and wanted to show a maximum quantity of details of an accessory to tribe Crow (Apsaroke) - that at me it has turned out - to judge to you.
This horse miniature of 54 mm will make in metal soon " Seil models " !
I never painted miniatures, but wanted to show author's vision of complex painting of the given figure, therefore used Photoshop.
Thanks colleagues for responses, yours faithfully.

    Hi Sergey,

I don now since 30 years research in the culture and history of the Plains Indians and the Absarokee (Crow) are one of my favorites. A friend of mine is Crow (father Crow mother German).
I'm very appreciated by your work and by your research. I would wish that other sculptors of Native Americans would undertake the same good research like you and represent the real beautiful culture of these people to the figurine world instead of "Hollywood fantasy.

I recogniced that also the sources you had used are very good.

Also your painting is very nice. I only would paint the buckskin leggings not that bright read, as buckskin soacked with red natural colour goes dark red.

    Many greatings from Germany

    Sergey,

It looks an real beauty from my screen. I think that it is even beautifuller in real. And if Bruno gives his recommedation about the research nothing can go wrong with this amazing sculpted Crow Indian.
    Great work.

    Wow! Crazy stuff!

That kind of detail is a lot of really fussy work. Lots of blood, sweat tears and cussing. If I did something like this I would be looking for a lobotomy shortly afterwords.........!

Great job on a really tough subject!

For my modest work it many fine responses! :)
Thanks friends and colleagues for your participation in discussion.
After release Seil it will be very interesting to see the given miniature in the true, alive list!
Certainly the clothes will have few variants in painting, and breed of a horse completely not necessarily should be "Pinto".
Bruno - I have considered many variants of a coloring of blankets let outin the east for the trading companies. For trade with Crow mainly were red, dark blue dark and black colors with strips. Also it is possible to meet and popular coloring of blankets used for "kapot" - white from 3-4 color strips. You are completely right that my red bright enough has turned out in a photo - it needs to be made more muffled (darker). Thanks for your attention Bruno.
I hope to not spoil the following miniature, and to make her not worse this. :)
    Yours faithfully, Sergey.

    Hi Sergey,

All the exampleson Absarokee leggings made from trade cloth I had seen in museums, collections and on documentation had no side beadworks and no hermin tails, but the clasic recktagle on the bottom.
So I understand that your Abvsarokee wears buckskin leggins?

The only leggings which looks like trade cloth leggings with bead works on the side and hermine tails are in the book of Bill Holm, "Leader of Men". I don't know were he got this information. Actually all works on Bill Holm are very reliable.

For this reason I would be interested if you have any additional information or photo of a trade cloth leggings in this style I woulkd be very interested to see it, also for my Absarokee friend.

According to the trade clothe, you are right, the trade cloth used for the leggins were mainly darkblue, black, darkred, but even a dark green.

Again my highest compliment to your outstanding work and to your excellent research!!!

    Many greatings and happy sculpting

Bruno's thanks for your attention to my work.
I have shown the most beautiful elements of clothes Crow.
In many respects you are right, frequently leggins from a leather have a strip with an embroidery on each side. But look at the most known photo of delegation Crow to Washington (the Rotten Stomach, is A lot of Feats, the Beautiful Eagle, Magical the Raven......) - pay attention on leggins very known crow " Magical the Raven "! His trousers are made of a fabric and have a rich fringe from tails and an embroidered strip! Also pay attention on itself perhaps the known leader " Many Feats " (elderly) - it stands sideways and very well it is visible large tails and a strip on trousers from a matter - not leather. It is possible to lift still documentary archives and to find some acknowledgement of presence of a fringe from tails on fabric leggins with strips of an embroidery on each side. You have these historical and known photos? If is not present - I with you shall share with pleasure.
Once again thanks you Bruno for attention, with the big respect, Sergey.

    Hi Sergey,

thanky a lot for your answer. Yes you are correct according to the photo of the Crow delegation in Washington. Medicine-Crow wears such a leggings. I never noticed this...
If you could send me copys of the photos of "Magical the Raven" and Many fesats" by e-mail it would be very nice.
By the way, an excellent book on the history of the Absarokee are Dr. Joseph Medinzine Crow," From the heart of the Crow Country"

My wife and I support two social projects on the Pine Ridge Lakota Reservation and last weekend I had a Lakota friend (Minneconjou) as my guest and next week another Lakota friend stays for some days.

I know how insulted they feel by the "Hollywood fantasy figurines" made by some sculptors and produced by some producers who don'tcare of the Native American culture, but only think on the money.

For this reason, I'm very thanksful for your correct representation of Native American Herritage!

If Seil send me a figurine I will gladely organise an excellent review on the German figurine Magazine Kit.

    Best regards from Germany
