:) hi jiver! nice to see the monster's got teef!
interesting project, not to mention the materials too. Balsafoam, is that the same as 'foamcard'? or some rare mineral !!?
would not mind trying it out, is it widely available? got a great lil hobby store in Aylesbury where i live but not seen that particular substance.
look forward to seeing more of this project mate.

    Jiver,

Nice... I'm looking forward to seeing how you will tackle this thing. I also like the use of different materials, since I use anything I can get my hands on in my own modeling.

P.S. Was it you that contacted me about my scratchbuilt models around two years ago?

    Jiver, mate those teeeeth! eek!
i used to be a trainee in a dental lab and i must say, those teeth are awesome. the model's really taking form now. vey nice indeed.
i suppose the thing about that balsa foam is that you use less putty in the build up. will you make a body out of the stuff too?
the detailing looks very real too. will keep watching mate. :)

    Jiver,

Detailing is coming along nicely. I wouldn't worry about getting a precise match on all the little greeblies, none of the A L I E N S were the same anyway (can you tell this is my kind of subject? ).

If you really want to go fancy, you could make the dome a transparent cast (or vacuum formed shell) and sculpt the human-like brain underneath!

    Keep us posted!

P.S. Bedankt!

Jimmy, that will be neat to see. When doing these 1:1 scale pieces how difficult is it to maintain the correct proportions? Do you work from drawings?~Gary

    Gary,

First a small correction: this is 1/3 scale, not full size.
I'm one of those sculptors who works directly in 3D.In other words, I can't draw.
I used only 1 picture as reference to have an idea for the head. The rest is pure imagination without ignoring the basic elements of the design.
Basicly, working in this size or bigger is no different than small stuff. The rules stay the same.

    Cheers,

    Jiver
