I went to a Civil War Battle last week-end and thought some of the pictures
would make nice figures for the sculptors out in figure plant:

A couple of years ago on my return trip from Valley Forge, we decided to stop in at Gettysburg (also becoming an annual event). My favourite area in the park is Devil's Den and Little Round Top, so during our visit there we noted a number of 'uniforms' moving around the rear of Devil's Den. Upon investigation, it proved to be 4 or 5 Rebel re-enactors. Talk about giving the place atmosphere.

Reenactors can be a very valuable resource. it's best to photograph not only those uniformed correctly but those that fit the physical appearance of mid 19th century people.

Here's a picture of my son at last year's event at Cedar Creek.

These guys are about as good as it gets. The man in the center is Hardcore reenactor/preservationist rob hodge. If you've ever read the book Confederates in the attic Rob is featured on the cover in another modern wetplate photograph.

Paul- I agree irt Gettysburg- we stopped ther 4 or 5 years ago, and early May is a very nice time to visit. One problem we had was that Devils Den was infested with Hornets and Bees, to the extent the park had to erect signs warning people. Not as dangerous as Minnie balls, but, there you go!

Jim, Devil's Den is quite a different place today. The past few years has seen the removal of several trees in an effort to restore the battlefield to it's 1863 appearance. Bees or no bees, I do not see my annual visits to Gettysburg stopping anytime soon.~Gary

That's easy. they simply ran out of gas. Must have been that crappy milage they were getting on the trip up north.~Gary
