Bill, These really are amazing. They look like resin figures and not your typical injection molded figures. The weapons alone are incredible. C'mon a clip for in 1/35 for an M-1! I'm going to get a set just to have for closer inspection.~Gary

From what I've seen from inspecting some the other Gen 2 kits it that the detail is second to none and on par with resin figures at a price that can't be beat. That having been said, with an average of about 60 parts per figure, they are not for faint at heart. If for no other reason they're great for parts. Mind you this is just my opinion from looking at some these kits that were brought to club meetings, I do as yet have experience putting one them together though I do plan on buying most of the Gen 2 kits from time to time.

THe detail for this type of mass produced, slip/injected molded figure is nice. Really nice. My only complaint is that there is a texture to the plastic that just doesn't have the same feel or working properties as previous. It almost feels softer and it doesn't like files or sanding sticks. Anything courser than fine to medium, leaves some heavy scoring.
The big plus I've seen is that as a result of these separate hands, hollowed sleeves, etc, it is much easier to "tweek" the positioning and in some cases do some swap outs for some more advanced conversions.
For those that get bothered by that type of thing... the ears on the heads are ears, not molded cow patties on the side of the head. Which is a nice touch.
They are not.....touch up free. Some filling will be necessary and in some cases some carving or clean up.
The PE can be a little fumbly and awkward at times. But on the whole a step above. If you are doing larger figure vignettes or dioramas, it is much easier on the wallet to buy a box of 5 or 6 of these for for $12 as opposed to $12 for one for resin or white metal.
The older tamiya figures will keep you warm at night as you throw them on the fire.

Its amazing what detail they can get into 35th scale by panographing down from 1/16th scale.

It is really a quite brilliant way to get great detail in small scale, ecpecially for the weapons and tiny details such as the Garand ammo clip!!

Another beautiful feature is the hands, especially in the primed figure pictures, excellent!

This is one set I will get atleast a couple of for sure!

WOW! Good luck with the seams on the faces. At least the German figures have helmet straps to hide the seams with! I still can't see having all those seams to fix as a good thing. OK, OK, the seperate hands and some items like that, I can see, but some of this is simply creating work I don't see as necessary. I have never had a set of Dragon figures that didn't need putty somewhere, and sanding around the face to get them to work doesn't sound like fun to me! Besides, Mike is right, with the soft plastic on these, imagine the havock you could wreak around the face on one of these guys in a jiffy!

Other than that the detail is awesome and these marines are definetly on my list.

Can anyone give me a comparision of the Dragon US Marines, Iwo Jima and this new realease of US Marines, Tarwa? Is the Iwo Jima Marines as detailed as this kit shows?
